Learning Pi

Started with the goal of 20 numbers, associating some numbers with words (may for 3, 3 letters) some number i rhyme (3 is tea). Now I’ve assigned areas of my lodging numbers (front door is 3.141).
Time will tell how will work and if I up my goal eventually to 100?

If you want to kick it up a notch, check out a 2-digit number system like the Major System. If you take a little time to learn a PAO setup based on it, you can store 6 digits in each loci, and with only 17 loci you can easily encode 100 digits! Good luck, it’s a lot of fun!

Thank you, will be looking into it

I’d definitely recommend at least checking out the Major System, so you’re not trying to reinvent a wheel that already exists.

I’ve used a kind of hybrid approach to memorizing pi to 120 digits. (It’s just for fun, so I decided to stop at 120.) I use a memory palace, along with images based on the Major System (with a little PAO as well). All of the locations in the memory palace hold a string of six numbers.

What’s maybe a little weird—the PAO element—is that I associate a celebrity or someone I know with the first two numbers in each sequence. That person then interacts with the images for the next four numbers.

Here’s an example.

Because I know the “3.” at the start, my memory palace begins with “14.” Based on the Major System, I assigned this number to actress Debbie Reynolds. “15” is a doll, and “92” is a bone. So, “141592” is Debbie Reynolds dancing with a doll holding a bone.

At the next location, John Lennon is riding a mule that is vaping. This represents “653589.”

If you haven’t looked into the Major System, this may sound very confusing. But it can really simplify any number memorization.

I just listened to : The Pi Song (100 Digits of π)

Song by AsapSCIENCE … Loads of fun, probably a good learning tool (but I’m still trying to absorb all of the wisdom in Dominic O’Briens book called "How to develop a brilliant memory week by week …, one of a number of books he’s written).

Everyday seems like a good day to get a bit wiser (which is what I hope is happening).
I could have used that attitude and training i school, does anyone agree?
