I want to learn everything

As I put it in the title my goal is knowledge I want to learn everything yes I know it is impossible but I want to learn as much as possible in my life.
I said to myself why not read books except that reading a book of barely 200 pages takes me more than 5 days which takes me much too much time and especially that I hate reading books do you have another alternative to learn everything? Something very complete and that goes into the smallest details it can be a website or something else

Why not memorising books

Probably start with just killing your like/dislike monster related to books. What specifically do you hate about reading books? Just realize that is only one small aspect of reading books and you might like the other 80%.

When I first started watching Chess streamers I disliked several based on minor personality traits such a massive ego. Over time I have learned to like almost all the Chess streamers because they all have something unique to offer I like and I can just tune out the things I dislike or look past them.

Because reading a book takes too much time as I said my goal is knowledge so it must be easy to access and quick to have

What kind of knowledge you want ? Is there some specific need you have ?

Learn as much as possible for example: manipulation, strategy, philosophy, politics, science, chess (as well as countless tactics and strategies), law, geography, history, mythology etc…
This thirst for knowledge I have because of a big lack as I could not go far in studies so I want to catch up with all that and go further

And you want to learn everything in so less time. Not want to read whole books either, and not want to watch full video as well. (You can’t learn anything in less time, obviously if you have sharp mind you can understand the topic in less time than others, but still it will take some time to learn anything.)

Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think (Albert Einstein)

1 idea is, maybe try watching summary videos of books.

one most important thing to be noted here, after finishing the summary, note in your words what you learn by that video in your notebook. After that watch other video.
Otherwise In my experience you will forgot that, even if you have good memory.

If you want to read a book fully. And you have very nice speed reading. Like for finishing 1 book you need just 1 day.

even if that’s the case, try spending time with that particular book, atleast 1 week.

Great answer . Wish you good luck

How do you manage to read a book a day?
What is your speed reading method?

@Dune I recommend learning the major system (if you haven’t already) and reading (or listening to the audiobook) “Moonwalking with Einstein”. Also buying (or finding them, if you think you might already have some) flashcards and writing memory hooks on one side and the appropriate “answer” on the other side. I did this for all of the phonetic alphabet sounds (in the “standard” major system; i.e. 1=T/D, 2= S, 3=M, etc) and I created many (still a work in progress though memory hooks for a 00-99 system. I’m not a memory master yet, but I can 100% tell practicing with flashcards (which are easy to carry around in one’s pocket and use while one is waiting in line, on hold on the phone, waiting for a meeting to start, etc). Also, if you can manage it, invest in audiobooks on memory improvement and listen while you commute (if you can do so safely, of course!), get lots of sleep, eat healthy (salmon, blueberries, high protein, low carb) diet.

edit: also “Atomic Habits” by James Clear.

Listen to audiobooks on varied subjects at 1.5 to 2 times the normal speed. You’ll get through them faster and can listen during driving, free time, chores etc.

Hi, my son used to edit books for an app called Blinkist, they take non- fiction, edit them into blinks of 15mins so you get a really fast synopsis

learn first to love reading. Books and reading are probably the best knowledge source there is. If you don’t like to read, you won’t be able to learn much, or at least not anything very interesting or challenging.

Start by finding books on subjects you love, and the reading will happen automatically. What takes you now 5 days to read will eventually take 1 or 2 hours.

Enjoy the written wisdom !

my thoughts on that subject :

The one that knows everything, knows nothing.

You should not only “learn” the facts and rules, but also how to apply them in your life.
And to filter them if you really want to know the entire subject.

You need also to learn what is right and what is wrong.
What is outdated or dangerous .

For example:
You learn from a book that was written by a person that lived during the world war 2 and it gives you rules about how to tread people that are from a certain religion.
Is that something you want to apply today?

Or another example:
Imagine your next book is about the galaxy of stargate - the tv series.
It might be fun to know the informations.
But when is this knowledge practical ?

Some goals are not good for us. Or not well described enough.

Your reading speed isn’t bad. At that rate you can read 73 200-page books per year, which is far more than the average person reads.

If you feel like that is still too slow, you could try to identify the problem so you can solve it. Is it because of reading speed, attention span, or because of distractions like a mobile phone? If it’s reading speed, that improves with practice.

A big difference between good books and the Internet is that good books have probably stood the test of time, while the Internet is full of unsorted fads and random opinions by unknown people. Wikipedia is often wrong, and if the topic is controversial, someone is probably being quietly paid to edit it (or someone with free time is hovering over every edit in order to promote an agenda).

It might help to think about a book as a personal conversation with an extremely interesting person. You can sit down in a chair, and an expert with important ideas will give you a personal lesson.

Books and the reading of them are the gateway to knowledge. Disliking them is a huge obstacle to your goal. I recommend you make friends with books.

What kind of knowledge are you after? If you just want to accumulate brute facts - like an encyclopedia that is packed with information but understands none of it. If what you want is understanding, then information must be digested, understood and integrated with the rest of your knowledge. That would take time and 4 days on a book may well be appropropriate.
