Here’s the story of why I have to land an A on my test. I was doing some tasks in the more challenging book my teacher gave me with two other guys. One of the guys asked the teacher about what his predicted grade is for the test we are going to have in around 3-4 weeks, the teacher answered with C. Naturally I got curious and asked what the teacher prediction on my next test is, so I asked; he answered with c or B. The guy got very egomaniacal about this and said “how can she get a B but I get a C, I do better than her “ which is not true since I am two steps ahead of the class. He told me afterwards to my face that he will show that he is better.what methods should I use?
The method of practice. Math isn’t really about memory, and while techniques may help you with some things (like terminology) ultimately the way to really learn is to solve more problems.
Everyone has semi-arbitrary rules for what makes sense to them when it comes to review vs new material vs practice, mine is up to half as much time spent reviewing as covering new material, and at least four times as much time spent practising as covering new material.
It’s always good to start a learning session with warm-up exercises, just a few minutes doing some things that are relatively easy. This works both as a little extra practice on things you wouldn’t really bother with, and a way to ease your mind into focusing on the task.
This is generally how I think any skill based learning should be approached.
First, what relates to logic is different from what relates to creativity. To study the development of formulas, you must use fragmentation and analysis of the parts. Although it sounds slow, it’s the fastest method. After doing this, use the free recall method. That is, after studying using the fragmentation method and then analyzing the parts to later put them together, take a blank sheet of paper and reconstruct everything from memory. Focus on the parts you get wrong and try the free recall again. The next day, take the free recall test to identify if you consolidated that memory and if something is difficult to identify again.
You can memorize formulas with mnemonics, but understanding is best done by developing and understanding them in parts. This develops logical memory. Obviously, with practice, it will be faster. You can use other methods such as spacing out your study sessions; for example, 2 hours of study divided into 4 sessions would be 30 minutes per session, and to this you add breaks between sessions. Vary the topics (ABA, BAB, BAA, etc.), practice free recall with a blank sheet of paper (rewrite everything you understood and identify gaps in your understanding), and, of course, use spaced repetition. Self-testing is one of the best ways to prepare for a multiple-choice exam (you can use Google NotebookLM).
Hi I don’t know about maths. But I think it could help to collect the more difficult things and study apart. Like a list of difficult things or exercises. I think is an advantage.
You can ask AI for the important questions if it is allowed or not mentioned probably and you can look for Previous Year Papers and maybe asking ChatGPT for the top 10 Maths equations used to start answers to questions and writing them down can help.
Most students do not make a formula sheet if I remember correctly.
Check your Maths calculations or practice Maths calculations enough to require lesser checking.
A probabalistic search from ChatGPT of the type of questions where students likely make most calculation errors can help like long answer questions with the longest text(Hypothetically) to create a targetted model with above meaningful accuracy.
