Ok, maybe this is just the winter tiredness and white russians talking, but I’ve been thinking over the Shadow System all week, thanks to some great thought provoking responses and posts from @bjoern.gumboldt and @BradenExplosion and I had a crazy(?) thought just now.
I already have a 2-digit major system based LPAAO system that includes cards in it, where each number / card has a “Location, Person, Action, Adjective, and Object” associated with it.
What if there were a hybrid technique that included the “adjectives” of single cards to begin each loci that would inform the “feel” of the scene and images at that loci?
The first card of the deck would give you the adjective for the first loci. Say it’s the Ace of Spades… that’s 11 for me, adjective would be “dead.” So now you begin going through pairs via shadow and every pair you place at the first loci gets colored with the “dead” adjective. They’re all gorey, decomposing, zombified…
Once you hit the pair that starts with a red card, you end the loci, but then instead of continuing with a new PAIR, you deal a SINGLE card which determines the adjective of loci 2. Say it’s the 2 of spades, 21, “naughty.” Now every card-pair image at loci 2 is somehow being naughty.
I don’t think the adjectives would interfere with the same card-pair “2-digit/consonant” phonetic images, because the adjectives aren’t images themselves, more like a detail generator for those images. So if the first card of the loci was [2 Spades] you’d think: ok, this loci is “naughty”, and the next two cards are [Ace of Spades] [King of Hearts], (which also give you the “N-T” sound via shadow) you’d picture a “naughty” “nighty.” As long as you don’t designate an adjective for your card-pair shadow system image, you could use “nighty” as the card pair without confusing it for the [2 Spades] single adjective indicator card.
If I’m thinking this through correctly, using this approach would lower the total number of images needed by (# of loci)/2. So if you had 10 loci, it would reduce your total card-pair images by 5 because you’d have used a single adjective card at the start of each loci.
Don’t know if this would be something that would shave much time off of competition numbers, but maybe it would lessen the strain on recall with less total imagery to remember and providing more directed and memorable “flavor” for each image?
Is this crazy? Thoughts?
