Now, I do not do this for a long time, just starting out, will respond maybe later when this stands the test of time…, but my approach with anki and memory techniques so far is this:
Reusable memory palaces:
- Front is the name of the palace and the number of loci.
- When reviewing such a card, I walk through the whole palace and the number of loci I visit is the way I check if had visited them all.
- Back has the whole palace just as a list of loci for checking. - I walk it again reading the loci - if I missed sth it will hit me - I adjust next review time accordingly using the appropriate answer button.
I believe this should be enough to keep the palaces working and alive.
Long term storage of data
Using a dedicated memory palace
Same way as reusable memory palaces, but the back card can include the data with the palace.Using link method
For not too complex, not too large data I rather create an ad hoc short story using the Link Method. Thus I avoid having to build a memory palace, which in itself I am not too fast at.So The Front of the card would have the question. The question should in itself lead to the beginning of the story in the link method. I walk the story and try to retrieve everything. Then I can check with the back card which will show the data. For now I am experiment with not writing the story, just the data - Anki should take care of review scheduling in such a way, that I will be able to always remember the story, cause I repeat it before I forget. In case I forget the story, I hope that after reading the data I am able to retrace back what mnemos/story points I used to refer to the data being stored.
