How can I memorize the numbers of Hindi very very extremely fast without making mistakes in their everyday application,such as hearing the prices of things if I am going to buy something.
Get google translate if you don’t already have it and spell out a number. You can listen to it spoken and under settings can slow it down or switch between 4-5 different people saying it.
For counting I would use my PAO people in a palace doing something with the corresponding sound so that I’ll know which number it is.
The associations will be mostly personal but some may be common enough to share here’s a few I thought of
- Eeek - reminds me of an expression of a cartoon character like scooby doo or Lisa from Simpsons. So my person for one is scaring someone
- Do - sounds like dough so my number two is rolling out dough. Or there could just be two lumps of dough in the loci
- teen - there could be three people from teen titans or teenage mutant ninja turtles here. Or my #3 could be a teen version of themselves.
- Chaar - Charcoal. Could be four lumps of coal here or your #4 lighting a pile of charcoal.
Since you’d be dealing with prices you’re gonna wanna learn the higher numbers at least up to the average cost you’ll be dealing with and the names of items you might need
For vocab it would be a little different I would think what does the word sound like in English, or whatever your native language, and link it to that with an image of the definition interacting with it.
You Can put in a loci or just have it linked in “the void” without a place it but needs to be recognizable so when you hear the Hindi you think of the image which is the definition. The part that makes number a little easier is you can have it in a sequence and know what station number it’s at
For rice chaaval sounds like chah-vul or shovel so I would picture someone using a shovel to scoop rice to cook when I heard shovel I’d think shoveling rice. It’s necessary to be somewhat familiar with the exact pronunciation because they won’t always line up with our English words additional images can be added to correct mispronunciations. If it sounds more like shovAAl rather than shoveeel we can have them shoving an owl or shoving an eel into a pile of rice if the “e” sound is stressed.
Milk - doodh
Sounds like dude. I’d picture whatever reminds you of dude drinking milk. I think of Ashton Kutcher from that “Dude where’s my car?” film drinking from a gallon of milk.
