There are thousands of Korean vocabulary in eps topic chapter wise lessons which should be remembered or memorized to pass examination with highest marks. So, there any best memory techniques or mnemonic devices to memorize Korean vocabulary?
Uh, you probably want to learn Hagul first. So, find a basic Hagul chart:
There may even be a systemic way to do this, but you should probably just invent an image for every component. I think there may already be some reasonable system for this, but I don’t know. But, for instance, S here looks like the character for man, ch here looks a little like the character for dog, m looks like the character for mouth. But there might not be something like that; maybe g should be a santa’s lap or something. Just use whatever seems reasonable to you.
Then find a complete Hagul chart:
And use the smaller Hagul components to help you remember the larger hagul components, make names for them that make it easy to remember their names and sounds. Once you’ve done that, find a list of the words you want to know. For instance: 100 Core Korean Words - KoreanClass101
Then use the names you made to come up with the words. Looking ahead like this, it looks like some of the most common words are one character long, so maybe make the sound image the same meaning as the word. For instance:
Ju means week. It’s made of a J component on top and a U component on the bottom. The S component looks like the Chinese character for man. When you look at the J component that way, it starts to look like a man with his arms stretched out, like he’s jumping on a trampoline. So J becomes Jump. Easy, right?
U looks like a T. Alright, that’s a little harder. I think no matter what I do here, it’ll be a little contrived, but here’s what a came up with: the J is a Korean jumping zombie, who need to be put off by going to the cross (T) at church (the Kingdom of Heaven is within U) every WEEK.
I just made this up, so feel free to use or discard as much as you want, but this is the sort of thing you’d be trying if you were trying to learn Korean with mnemonics.
EDIT: Apparently, the shape of the components in Hagul are based on the position of the tongue when making consonant sounds:
I understand what you are saying. I have memorized hangul Korean letters and I have memorized basic Korean words too. It’s easier to remember short verbs or the verb which sounds like my native language( My native language is Nepali) but for those words which are a bit longer and which doesn’t sound like anything related to my language seems like abstracts words nothing comes in mind while reading is difficult. I have to remember 30/40 words per day for exam preparation. Is there any memory technique which is helpful for me?
So, sometimes it takes a bit of imagination. If you were determined to do this systematically, you could give every single hangul character an image, and every two-letter hangul an image, and assign POAs to them or something, but probably that’s overkill. Most likely, for longer words, you’ll try to break them up into smaller words that you can turn into some mnemonic image.
It seems to me that specific problems require specific solutions. If you’ve got a list of the words, they’re meanings, and, because most people don’t know Hangul very well, their transliterations, maybe I or someone else could help you.
I know hangul and also know basic grammar and basic vocabulary. But i am having problem in memorizing certain Korean words.
Right. Make a list of them, and maybe we can help you.
