I’m calling it the Cian system because people on this website love giving their systems their own name hahaha
I tried to use my normal memory and my normal memory isn’t bad, but a system to surely commit chess matches to memory in the long-run would be more unwinding for me. I don’t want that stuff I memorize, for some reason, disappier.
What if you gave each piece a letter and then combined the two pieces into one character so for:
Nf3-Nf6 = NN-f3-f6
Great idea! I will try this out.
Thank you so much for your answer. It was helpful!
The mcnally method!! Or the Irish method? Because it’s so disorganised it must be drunk (And I’m Irish)
I would really love for someone to come up with a way around the rook and knight problem Because I think there’s a little too much decoding happening in having a separate object for which rook or Knight moved. Like the other option is whenever you come across ambiguous rook/Knight moves you’ll just use your standard PO, but that’s boring and defeats the purpose. And it would be so inconsistent we’d have to call it “the drunken Irish method” hahaha.
Did you know that tripled f pawns and tripled c pawns are called “an Irish pawn structure”? Nigel Short often says this, it’s for this same reason
Also… one more problem, we don’t have ways of signifying “takes” or “check” so maybe this “item of clothing” addition to the PAO actually will be necessary?
