Hi everyone. Just wondered if anyone had some advice on what would be the most effective way to learn law books. While passing law exams is certainly not the hardest thing in the world to accomplish, it recquires you to memorize a bunch of legal rules, precedents, legal doctrines, definitions, classifications, etc.
So far, I find the combination of active recall (e.g. flashcards) and spaced repetition to be most effective. However, the problem I encounter is that active recall - or rather some techniques that employ the concept - is not best suited for learning big subjects (e.g. a 600+ pages book). While using flashcards makes learning much more enjoyable and less boring (a big problem of mine), the amount of time I need to invest into making them to cover the whole subject seems to outweigh the benefits.
On top of that, most exams are organised as oral exams, which means you can’t just focus on the most important staff in the material. Also, on most exams you get 3 questions that largely correspond to book subheadings, which means you have to be able to recall what’s covered under the specific heading.
