How memorize BOOKS, where take so many loci?

I dont know how to use the palace. I use other things. For example a book of 100 pages how many loci do you use? I dont know how you connect the things strongly. I a researching how I can use it for me. Im combining palace with link is easuer for me and need less loci.

Combining the palace and link method is a good strategy if it works for you. I also combine them.

@Biondi1789, to answer your question with actual details:

…you must consider details about:

  • the material you want to be able to recall
  • your intention for memorizing

On Recalling the Details:

There is not one single strategy for memorizing “100 pages.”

Even if you don’t even use “a memory palace/method of loci” at all there isn’t a single strategy.

Here is a strategy, you don’t need to do it, but I don’t need to write it out either.

Hopefully, since I’m writing this out you will reciprocate by actually following the exercise.
This is not a mental exercise. This is a real exercise that I have done, and if you never do it you will never get the benefits of doing it.

Exercise:

  1. Get a piece of paper (or you can type if you prefer)
  2. Get your “100 pages”
  3. Page by Page, write (or type) out—word for word—what you want to recall.
Yes. Word for word. You should have a list. The list you are making should be a list you want to be able to produce without looking at the source material. You do NOT need to do this for all 100 pages immediately, but if you don’t do this for at least 8-10 pages then trust that this is a sign that you’re not yet ready to do the work necessary to learn this memory skill.
  4. After you’ve created your “final” list for the 8-10 pages (or more), you need to provide details about the list. Here. Provide them here. On this forum. You can post them to the thread.

After you post these details, we will get very specific about techniques.

Deal? :handshake:

Hi. My english is intermediate I understand you globally but not all. I use memory to study not to compete. And I cant memorize verbatim. But maybe one Day. I dont want to memorize an entire book. Only wanted to know how you can do this. I imagine you use 3 loci by Page or something. I dont study text verbatim. I sintetize it first. Like 1/10. And the other make other síntesis or use other systems. I want To learn to use the palace but I dont know if its for me. Mayor link peg and others are more easy for me. Im trying to ingrate a system using several. The palace is powerful but its hard for me to relate the things to the place. Maybe something is lacking. Anyway I learn a lot reading this posts. More than from books because here is more direct. The books are pretty similar. At least those what ive read about it.

Well, it will be a bit tedious at first or it may not seem to work very well, but you get better as you practice.

I usually do not memorize entire books verbatim.

I can, but it is a lot of work and for learning is usually unnecessary.

I don’t do X number of loci per page.

I abstract the process.

I memorize an index. Then I determine exactly what I want to be able to produce from memory. Then I begin selecting loci and imagery.

It seems from your post, your need more rooms for your memory palace, there are lots of virtual memory palace online, you could try downloading the memory os app on Play store, it has about 850 locis
