Ahh not really sure… hmm. I just do ML so I would estimate that’s approximately 4 minutes. Images probably 3 minutes because i hit the skip button in training to save time.
most the of times, I don’t do it a row I divide the time. yes 30 min could help too and 1-4 days off could also help to improve times after your brain is fresh for few days! I’m not practicing with a training plan either
Alp has better discipline than I do. My tactical vision is intermediate and my coach recommends I solve puzzles 1.5 hrs per day and I currently maybe do 10 minutes.
Eventually I intend to practice memory palace based chess calculation and then I will be a lot more motivated to spend a lot of hours solving puzzles.
Best practice calculation players review the position for all candidate moves and briefly calculate each superficially. They use this initial step to then prioritize and fully calculate lines.
I intend to place a person in a memory palace as a marker for each superficial variation I need to calculate doing the action that relates to the square I need to calculate then loop back through each person. If more variations need to be calced during deep calcs I will add more placeholder people without breaking from my current line.
In this position during superficial calcs white needs to check all checks, captures and threats so without deep diving anything you would start by saying “I need to calculate BxN, RxR, QxN and on BxN it opens up Qg5+ so I need to calc BxN-Qg5+, BxN-Rxd6, QxN-Rxd6, RxR-Qx, RxR-Rx, RxR-Kx.”
Then I would prioritize and fully calc each line. With mnemonics I will place 6 people (00-05 major system people) in a MP then say when I am fully calcing a forcing option enters 3-4 moves deep, I will add another person and finish my current line then come back to them. I will be able to see gaps in the chain of major people to determine who I have left to fully calc.
My lack of tactical vision is showing because I didn’t even notice Bb7 is attacking my Rh1 which adds a lot more forcing branches to calculate.
Now that I remember, you could practice “speed reading”, I think will help you with your books goal. There are books and videos for that skills if you are interested. Also, you do the mental math in “Dual n-back” app? Sorry, I got confused in that part
Sunday-Numbers 30min
Monday-Cards 30min
Tuesday-Words 30min
Wednesday- Numbers 30min
Thursday- Cards 30min
Friday - Names & Faces 30min
Saturday- Break or if feeling good 30min cards/30min numbers
In general I try to train incorporating techniques into whatever it is I am learning/focusing on. Or people I am meeting (names & faces usually friday/saturday when going out)
