How do you deal with boredom when memorizing information?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been having a problem memorizing information, regardless of its nature. I get bored seeing the same symbols in the same place, so I start off excited about a project, and after a while, having to revisit the same thing gets boring. This is a difficulty I have with many things, and having ADHD definitely influences it.

My question is: Do you have any strategies to make these reviews more dynamic and interesting? So that I don’t have to always look at the same symbol in the same place.

I searched the forum and didn’t find anything like that, but if there’s already a topic like this, could you post it here?

Hi Haziel777,

Your name reminds me of a ceremonial magickal Angel…just saying.

Boredom is overcome when you develop/grow interest.

Inform yourself about the topic at hand and maybe your interest will grow.

Also, revisit WHY you got involved in the project to begin with.
That should re or further inspire you.

I have several projects that I’m doing at the same time, in parallel, but I’m focusing on one or two for a while (one week to two months depending on how I feel), then I switch to another project (I don’t abandon the others, I just do the minimum to maintain progress).
Because I tend to go all in and then need a break. I don’t know that I would say I’m bored but rather it’s not possible to maintain intense focus for very long, I’d burn out.
And it’s also beneficial to take a break and let things “percolate”. When I come back to things I usually know more what I need/want to focus on. Because I tend to “discover” new ideas and be enthusiastic and try them out… without thinking how they fit in my goals… and sometimes even if I actually like them (I mean you have to try things out to know). So when I come back to a project after a dormant period it’s more likely that my mind is clearer about how I should proceed. Or what new thing I can try to solve the problems I’ve noticed in the preceding period.

I dont know but maybe you can write it by hand. Draw it. Or saying orally that. Maybe create a video with Ai.

You can try meeting someone or some people randomly (in public!!!) and telling them you’ve memorized so and so information and have them quiz you to show off. Preparing with this in mind changes something, trust me. If you make a mistake, you’ll likely want to come back and prove yourself :joy::joy: and if you get everything, you’ll feel so good:wink:. This works for me.
