Have you ever been stranded with the English Alphabet? TAKE A LOOK.

Have you ever been stranded?

I developed a system for remembering the English Alphabet by number and I told a friend of mine to learn the system that one day it might be helpful but he refused thinking it’s difficult.

I asked him what is the 17th letter of the English Alphabet? And it took him at least 20 seconds to count it in his head. I asked him again, what is the 5th Alphabet? And he reads the table again.

Why do people want to learn something the hard way? When you have a free system that will help you. It’s sad.

He went back to school and called me after a week and said “guess what?” I said, what? Then, he said had a competition in school that requires arranging some words in alphabetical order and I was second to the last. I laughed and laughed and laughed. Somebody else won this THING. This is why they said “luck is when preparation meets opportunity”

So, I opened a Facebook page where I posted all my images for everyone to use. (1216+ Images for a start.)
My 2 digit system images
My 3 digit system images.
My Binary system images (I use same images as the 3 digit, but I have 16 key images)
My Alphabet to number system images (See table below)
And more to come.

Let me briefly explain the Alphabet to Number System.

If you watch soccer/other sports you’ll see that some players and their jersey numbers rhyme with the corresponding English alphabet.

So, Klose of Germany wears jersey number 11 and 11 which is K for Klose is the eleventh letter of the English alphabet.

SN0__ABC…MEN…WOMEN…______ RHYMED PLAYERS’ NAMES WITH THE ALPHABET’S NUMBERS

Note: Soccer players change clubs regularly, so the jersey number or the club might have changed, but the jersey they’ve worn are on their records and that’s what we’re after.

The system needs improvement on 25, and 26. Any help?
The Facebook page name is ‘Speed Reading’ the profile picture is a CLOCK.

i also use alphabet to memorize some short brief list from AA to ZZ, it is built as PAO. All of my P is cartoonist. It helps me quite lot in remember password and math formula.

That’s cool. I have a similar system but all my names start with the same name format.
Like A = Adam Ant, Adam Brody and so on.

I also have a second system where I choose only the most popular celebrities - that system took me 3months+ to arrange and I can’t decide on who to choose because all of them are super famous.
I couldn’t decide if I’ll go with Bob Marley, Bruno Mars etc for my BM. Didier Drogba, Dr Dre etc for my DD. Cristiano Ronaldo or Chris Rock for my CR. So, I was confused and indecisive - that’s why I opted for the same name system, but I still use my confused system to fortify any association I make with the same name system.

If I see AH I’ll first think of Adam Hick (my default), then fortify it with Adolf Hiltler, if I have some free time to kill.

The only thing my same-name-system has in common with the one that took me 3months+ is, they’re all arranged in male and female format, where my A for male are all ‘Adam’ and my A for female are all ‘Amy’. B for male = Bill and B for female = Barbara and so on.

This system helps with anything formula or license number memorization. Just anything alphanumeric.

Do you have a symbol/sign system?
And have you memorized all 676 images for your alphabet combinations?
Mine is 1,352. Male and female.

I have a letter pair image system from AA-ZZ
I have been very busy recently with school work. I will put at least my main images on the WIKI when I find some free time which is hopefully soon. I also have some alternatives that I use often so I will put some generic ones up as well that people may like.

I have a different way of doing the letter to number association that is very fast for me and is a quite different type of mnemonic. I Assigned a letter to each edge sticker on a 3x3 Rubik’s cube(there are 24 edge stickers). I can instantly know where my letters are on the cube. The good edges are odd numbers and the bad edges are even numbers. Good means something to cubers and we know it very well. The symmetry of the cube makes the answer very obvious with a quick mental glance in much less than a second. I also don’t think I will ever forget what a cube looks like so it’s safe to say that I’m never going to forget the numbers of the letters.

those letter pairs in your example would be BoMb DuDley ChaRizard AsH for me.

so from left to right, Dudley eats a bomb and gets attacked by Charizard,Ash is on Charizard’s back.

as you can see, I used the first syllable to define the letter pairs so I could also use an audio loop of one syllable pairs like BoMDuD-ChaRAsH if I was in a rush.

That’s about it. Good luck teaching your friends. Most people are not willing to put effort into mnemonics or think that it is impossible to become proficient at. People on this website, however, know that anyone can do this stuff.

Yes, anyone can do it, but most non mnemonist just want to get everything down in an hour - which is impossible. They love when someone does the magic and they’ll go home and tell everyone how one of their friends can memorize/remember 100 digit in 3 minutes or less.

I’m in my friend’s house right now, and I asked the dad if he thinks someone can remember 100 digits in 5 minutes and the reply was “unless he/she has a photographic memory”. I laughed and laughed. Then, he told me he met an uneducated guy who can remember any week days as long as you provide the year and month. To him it’s a Chinese/African magic.

I don’t know if I should tell him about memory techniques. He’s a very intelligent man. Maybe I’ll do a stunt for him first.

I find that teaching people how to memorize the alphabet backwards is the best proof of the power of mnemonics I can make in less than 10 seconds by demonstrating how it works. It only takes less than a minute to describe why it works and then about 5-15 minutes for person in question to learn it. (I’ve very rarely run into people who can do it without needing a mnemonic strategy, but this is exceedingly rare!)

My mother (97 years) knows nothing of memory systems as we use the phrase here. She grew up in a country town and has a very basic education. Yet I distinctly recall her reciting the alphabet backwards for us as kids. She did it in a rhyming fashion, like:

ZYX WV UTS and RQP ONM and LKJ… etc

After a while it catches, and I think as kids we could all do it at one time, but this is the first I’ve thought of it in decades and I’ve lost most of it.

But it’s just a rhyme, and I’m pretty sure she couldn’t recall letters randomly by number.

She also has a head for phone numbers and, while not infallible, she can recall the numbers of most of her friends and extended family, which altogether total to a fairly respectable number.

I can’t pinpoint your Facebook page – is it still active?

Incidentally, what alternative suggestions for a system for memorizing the alphabet so as to recall any letter by number?

Easy enough to do using the Major System, but I frequently use my Major System associations for miscellaneous purposes, thus wiping previous uses each time I call on it again.

Iam’s method is no good to me either. Not only do I not follow English football, but I can’t think of a single category where I could come up with 26 recognizable people that I haven’t already used for other purposes. While I casually follow some sports and watch TV/movies etc I’m not much of a “Fan” of sports people or actors.

I had to come up with 14 different categories of people and things for my task of memorizing acupuncture points, and that took me quite a while.
