Hello guys. I’m just getting started on my memory journey and I need your help and advices on how I can improve, if you can even recommend a daily practice routine that would be much better. I’m a law student and I really need to develop the ability to memorize lots of books in the shortest possible time (cuz yk) so please help me! Thanks in advance.

I’m just getting started with this memorization techniques stuff. I’m struggling to memorize law passages, they typically range from half a paper to a full paper etc…
Usually the typical memorization techniques I use are just repetitions or trying to paint the words in my head and still keep on repeating. But even this I’m struggling with. Can you help give me a good headway to start off?

Sure, just one question: Do you need to know the law verbatim or just its contents?
If it’s the former, here’s a blog I made on this forum about memorizing austrian constitutional law: Memorizing Austrian/EU constitutional law verbatim: A hubristic journaling project
If it’s the latter: Try creating images in your memory palaces corresponding to the abstract information. So for example if I wanted to memorize where the constitutional right to private property is codified (Article 1 first additional protocol to the ECHR, Article 5 StGG) I may use my 99 PAO to imagine something like John Constantine (01) blowing smoke (01) while adorned with Horns (clueing me in on ‘europe’, as Europa famously rode on a bull (the transformed Zeus) in her myth) at a Toaster (05) that is covered in frost (since ‘StGG’ sounds like someone freezing).
If I then wanted to remember when an administrative act violates this right I would imagine
- Walter White (my image for administration, since the german is ‘Verwaltung’)
- shooting the green flames of the villain from ‘Kim Possible’ (which clues me in one the first possibility, that is an ‘impossible’ interpetation of the law being used)
- at Red Hood from Batman comics(who leads a group called ‘The Outlaws’, which clues me in on the second possibility being the administrative act being in conflict with the law)
- and the flames hit the quill in his hand, burning it (since the quill signifies ‘constitution’ for me, this means that the third possibility is the act being based upon an ‘unconstitutional’ law.
Of course these two images would be right next to each other. Also try using a mind map in tandem with this, since it helps you figure out what infomation is important and what is not.

Fantastic subject, dear colleagues (not in the original sense of the word, but rather co-legere, as in reading law together) ! I really like @turducken 's answers, reminds me a lot of how I study law, especially his associations on unconstitutionality.
One question for you: during an exam, does it take a lot of time to remember these informations ? Do you have to return and “decipher” your associations each time ?
From my experience, it takes some time to remember and decode these associations at the beginning, but normally on exam day I would be ready to answer.
I use Anki to review what I memorized so I’ll get some experience ‘decoding’ the information before the exam, meaning it won’t take long at all.
