Facebook as external journal

Talking to a mate the other day, who regularly uses Facebook and uploads lots of photos from his activities.

I had mentioned thoughts of starting a journal to help my memory, and he said Facebook was really useful for that. Viewing photos regularly helped the recall of his daily events?

Would you guys agree with this?
Would there be drawbacks?

If you don’t mind Zuckerberg data mining your diary, then that might be a way.

Otherwise you could use any note-taking program to collect your image and diary entries.

Thanks for your reply.
It will definitely be worth checking out some programs to use.

If you’re looking for Facebook alternatives, I wonder if Notion or Obsidian might work well for something like that. Microsoft also has a similar program called OneNote, but I don’t think it’s free. For a public (or private) daily log, wp.com has a free plan.

Thanks Josh, that’s helpful.

Or Logseq, if you want something more like Roam Research (with a journal) but open source and local.
