Hello guys! Is there anyone that have been able to pass an exam type Comptia by memorising all the course content or even memorising the answer!
Sure. I advise you to do the pre-certification CD practice tests NOT until you score 80% as advised by CompTIA but 100% as I did.
I know you want to master the subject and every detail, as did I. But to pass the ridiculously simple test you have to answer THEIR “average IQ” questions - so do the CompTIA practice CDs and questions - and don’t worry about the advanced memorization you’re doing which WILL put you well ahead of the pack (because they don’t use mnemonics) - Your IN DEPTH knowledge will fail you on their generalistic tests. Beleive me - A+, Network Plus, CISCO CCNA etc.
Trust me - My BOSSES in IT did this too. Use the practice CDs.
Are they worth getting? I’ve always heard they are basically a scam.
By CD! Do you mean CD-ROM?
If you haven’t already seen it, check this post: New to Memory [Comptia A+, Memory Courses] - #5 by Josh
Edit: this subject is coming up a lot, so I just made a comptia tag.
I know the Sybex ones used to be excellent. Not sure about now though. The test is narrow, whereas the info to learn is broad and deep. So learn as much as you can, of course. I always focused on the tough stuff - the hardest to memorize nitty gritty details (and am glad because I gained much greater understanding) but the tests focus on more general questions, and while you may pass the test without the CDs, they’re not going to ask you the hard stuff - it’s weird. Anyway, the CDs give you what the test is looking for so you can score well.
CISCO tests on the other hand DO require precise memorization and mental calculations with binary and hexadecimal. Those are more fun.
