Wow. Wild to watch.

Congratulations on the world record, Don!

That was inspiring to me. Thanks for sharing the clip @anon69297051

I’m only slightly disappointed I missed you breaking the world record for MemoryLeague Desk Smash. :innocent:

That one meant a lot. Will continue working to make those “crazier results” as you called them the the new record.

I hope you enjoy the channel and I think it shows how my training helped me accomplish that. Whether it’s doing words with metal music playing or 14.6 second attempts, we need to make the training more difficult than the competition.

Well shoot, I just spent 30 minutes doing timed exercises.

Seeing your work with my own eyes has struck something in me.

I’m already excited about mnemonics, but I see a lot of room for improvement in speed for myself! Something I haven’t focused on much in a few years.

At the end of the day, nothing makes a Texan wanna work harder than seeing someone succeed from the only state bigger than Texas: Canada.

Beau

p.s.,
I’m knowingly ignoring the fact that the only thing more motivating than that is seeing someone succeed from the country of California.

Thanks for the kind words.

Sorry, about the Texas part but I guess that’s out of your control:

You can. There’s nothing inherently special about me. I am a completely normal person.

Congratz! What’s your system?

Hey there,

I get this question a lot. There is no system. Thats why words is the best event(in my slightly biased opinion).

2 words per loci and the first is more prominent. I train Words at a very fast paced like I do all events.

Example- Numbers I train at 13 seconds. I dont get them all right but usually about 70-75% accurate and this is what I apply for my auto advance speed in Cards/Words/Images/Numbers.

Words- I train at 15 seconds or my top speed in training usually around 21 seconds. So 37, 32 seconds sort of felt like slow motion.

This is what I saw for “distance thorn”.

Do you think skill at this carries over to ability to memorize texts verbatim?

Im sure it would help but Ive never used it verbatim. If I did I would apply a small system for things like but would mostly be the same though id probably switch to 5 per loci

A, the, it, an, etc.

Great articles!

I really agree with your perspective that any of these things can be trained and honed, @Bigdonnyv

Here I am reading about you and thinkin well golly, where do I want to push myself harder?

An exhilarating thought. I dig it.

Thanks for sharing these articles, Josh.

This might be a bit tangential, but since you mentioned having memorized documentation, have you ever thought about building programs that would allow you to have speeded exercises for custom learning material, say for programming or something directly related to professional / learning goals?

I’ve been trying to build this myself with mixed success, but I’m quite busy with other tasks so haven’t fully dived into it yet.

It’s crossed my mind, but I’m not sure what it would entail. I don’t have a clear picture of how a program like that might look.

I’m open to ideas though. I very well might just build it if anyone’s got ideas on it.

Cant say I have.

Hello Don, congratulations, it is really surprising, I have a question for you, regarding the name memorization test, what is the technique you use? Do you place each person in your memory palaces?
