Current digits one minute records

Hello. New here but not to mnemonics. I am trying to find the current, as of May 31, 2022, World Record(s) for random digits memorized in sixty seconds.

I have been working on this myself for several years now but have several questions about these Memoriad World Records and Guinness, or any others, to know what I am up against with cash wager challenges.

I don’t mean one-offs, but those who can do it repeatedly for skeptical informed observers.

Are such “records” one-off, an average of several trials, or repeatable when a three or four-figure cash wager is on the line ("proof is in the pudding "demonstrations)?

really is this Guinness book of world record ?.

I tried only few times when I have pc.
My best score 100 digits in 17 sec in front of a camera recording. (And I was little nervous in recording otherwise I can go little more faster.) :slightly_smiling_face:

it’s totally wrong.
It’s not like if one can do 120 in a min, will do 120 × 10 => 1200 digits in 10 min

In long term memorization, biggest task is to maintain the same speed/pacing till the last.

But yeah 120 in a min, is not so high barrier to break. :slightly_smiling_face:.
It’s not like I am just saying in air, I know what I am capable of currently.

5 min memorization challenge is little tougher than 1 min challenge.

Yeah so what @1352 said is that if world record of 5 mins numbers is 630 digits, it will be sure that he can do above 630/5=126 digits in a minute.

100 in 17 seconds is astonishing. Can you tell us your method? Can you do it close to that again?

I use 3 digit system in numbers, bob.
Yeah, I can do it again, no problem. :slightly_smiling_face:

15 sec 100 digits is doable. (the time when I did 17 sec, I have less experience in 3 digit system, Now I am improved a little.)

Most excellent Rajadodve. Maestro!! Extend this out to a minute or longer, and you can make some good side money with your skill. I use loci and six digits per locus “snapshots” but I think you have a better mind and are probably much younger than this geezer. And your images may be a different variant of PAO as are mine, or similar. Perhaps you have 1000 single images, for each 3-digit combination, but maybe not. I don’t. I am extremely doubtful of anyone who claims to actually have 1000 distinct actions (verbs) for speed work. For real demonstrations. Not pipe dreams on paper.

Official records are fun for a hobby, more power to them, but I am a show me the money guy. For real money in the pocket how-to, study Amos in the film, “The Color of Money” for a basic wager hustle setup. The full movie, from when he appears, not just youtube snippets

A variation and more useful in general is to appear a loud mouth braggart who has had just a little too much to drink. Just make sure the cash is out in the open with a trusted third party holding it before you show your skill.
For further inspiration, pick up a used copy of Titanic Thompson: The Man Who Bet on Everything, by Kevin Cook. It inspired me twenty years ago to come up with a 19 mile lake swimming near-impossible wager with tourists, when I was already old and not an experienced swimmer. And no boat assistance or transfers to me or flippers allowed. I had a surprise but legal ‘helper’ that no one would think of. But no one would take me up on it, $1000, which is not a lot of money today. They always backed off.

Many years ago, as a mentalist, I used to offer to memorize a thousand digits, totally legitimate no cheats: I make one mistake, you get my money. Used the Rand Corporation book of Random Numbers, which was the standard for scientific randomization numbers.

Not ready to wager yet today because this 60 second demo is volume by speed. But I will be by 2022. I practice daily. I gave myself much time on the 1K digits by today’s standards, ridiculously so, since it was not about speed but accuracy, which not only gave me time for a complete refresh run-through check, but on those few images which I was not sure of, the uh-ohs!, a quick run through rapid sort-of-poem method of turning it into a recognition task rather than bare recall retrieval for those weak unsure ones. So I had double backups. Still necessary today if money is on the line.

People today don’t want to get involved with such a long task which is why I have boiled my former 1K digits down to a one minute stunt. I don’t care myself about official records; that’s for others. There is no money in that. But I do like to know what the records are, for comparison when I do my setup with people, which is why I asked my original question here.
