I am curious if there is a publicly available and up to date list of the top memory competitors for the world championship and if anyone has made a list of just the American competitors yet?

as of right now the entirety of American memory sports is one live event where they try to sell mind maps. so… idk.
i don’t think there’s an established list or anything, though here’s my take: alex floats in an ethereal bubble far above us mortals; nelson, briley and john graham are also up there somewhere with the caveat that they’re also various degrees of inactive. james is also at a very high level; wesley will likely be within striking distance soon. (plenty of other historic luminaries up here too: lance, ronny, someone i’m forgetting that will hate me for it. idk.)
another 15-20 folks (i’d put myself in the lower half of this tier) are all at “could conceivably win the USA championship.” which is somewhere between middle of memory league div2 and high div4.
but in general like, no, i don’t think any of this is collected anywhere, at least to my knowledge. would love to be wrong! (would also love… more events in america, lol)
You are right, Alex is in a bubble beyond everyone (maybe on account of being the sole reason the US ever won a world championship) and he’s been actively continuing for a decade whereas other top competitors you mentioned have gone dark.
I hope someday we do get a longer list of successful individuals (and more events).
PS:
I think the comment about “sell mind maps” is hilarious. But we’re all gonna try to win it anyway.
