I am in the same boat. I find that movies can do wonders. One of my favorite movies is The Cell. If you haven’t seen it get it. Basically Jenifer Lopez goes into the mind of a serial killer and it gives you so many ideas for crazy palaces. I also liked Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and the Matrix. Fantasy and Sci-Fi movies do wonder such as Star Wars even the Wizard of Oz. Just make sure you have the palace down solid as far as you want to go, OMG that is another movie Alice in Wonderland. Make sure you know your palace before putting things in it. Perhaps draw up a blue print or write a in depth description of the palace. Apps can do wonders if you have an iphone/ipad Rooms is a great app although u have to pay for some features also House design is a good app for just simple rooms and doors, print it out and label it. Just ideas hope this helps.

Just looking at a Google image search for The Sims 4 provides somes amazing homes that people have created, fully furnished. I image if you looked at some of these long enough and walked through them in your mind enough times you could use these as memory palaces. Although I think one step better would be to have the game, and either build or download some of these homes, so that you could walkthrough and interact with them.

I really like this page, for example. This person has created a virtual Real Estate company, selling Sims 3 and 4 properties. Scroll down a bit on this page I’ve linked to, and you’ll see several houses that are “for sale”. Then click on one to be taken to overhead shots of the home, as well as photos of the various rooms.

After a lot of thought and experimenting. the whole point is to create it in your head. Its okay to write it down like a list or an excel document but using the sims or Minecraft takes to long and the point is to have this in your head. Hence if you can make it stand out visually in your head then it clearly doesn’r stand out. If you read the Art of Memory they didn’t have technology but to only use their brains the less writing and more living in your palace the better. Like anything it is a skill.
I myself love building homes in the Sims, and with the sims 4 you can build multiple homes in a single city. I end up with one huge memory palace (the city), separated into multiple smaller memory palaces (the homes). This is how I make new memory palaces when I need one.
Whatever works for my friend loves using minecraft for buliding memory palaces.
I tried minecraft as well, it is very simple and everything ends up very bold, making it easy to keep apart. My current computer just can’t run it
