Hi hi guys, how are you doing?. Ok so good news, I learned the alphabet:
A B C D E F G H I (so this part I never had problems)
J K (also this part, but mostly remembered before) K M (there is a game called JKLM, which helped me make sense of the order of the group)
N Ñ (M N Ñ part were always similar letters, and I remembered this gruop. Ñ is a spanish letter)
O P K R S (also remembered, I think mostly the parts I already knew where from sound memorization)
T U V (I just memorized “tuv” and made it just that easy)
W (since V is one, and W is literally two VV together, I just knew it was after)
X Y Z (i already knew this group, and I think math helped.
Relying in making groups I knew the sequence was very useful.
The alphabet is a small thing learned, but, hey, I am just happy it will stuck in my head forever. I still have to slow down when pronouncing every letter, but I will get the hand of it.
I was not able to do much in this week more than some literally devices, which I wanna keep learning, they are pretty good. But I really wanna get start to start memorizing a dictionary. Idk which method should I use and if I should use the alphabet for it. I saw some videos/guides of how to do it, so I may use some of those methods. let me know you have some idea.
Thanks Hari-P for the help and ideas. He said I should not do small challenges without a good reason and aim, so I will start to really write down why I wanna do each thing.
For now I am happy with the things I used for memorization. Although as you can see I am kinda relying of some methods I don’t even undertand pretty well. Like sure I can just make a small memory trick out of the pocket to memorise where is west and east, but that doesn’t mean much if I dont event understand how the trick even works. I should look memory palace or some good method I could refine for using most of the time. Any recommendations?
For now this are the challenges
-Memorize the alphabet - COMPLETED
-Memorize literary devices (and what they do)
-Memorice fallacies (and what they are about)
-Complete monkeytype memory challenge
and 2 extra ones I just added:
-Memorizing phone numbers (let me know if you have some favourite method for this). Very useful in my opinion sometimes, although most I would just have a notepad in hand i guess
-CPR and first-aid (I really wanna learn this and even if probably I will never have to use it, I think it is S tier useful)
I will not this if I don’t find a good reason as Hari-P P recommended me to search. At least for the moment.
-Memorize countries and capitals
-Memorize periodic table elements and names.
And from week 0, which are pretty big:
-Diccionary (Memorizing a diccionary)
-Studying (how to study and give good presentations)
-Typing (in the future)
-Languages (I am not sure still)
-For learning
Of course I will try once I get off uni to put more effort into it. I am still kinda lost of how to use X method and how, but as Hari-P recommended I will focus in practicing things. Since he explained memory palaces are simple I guess I will mostly use them
As final thing to say, I have a question. For what you use memorization techniques? Something in special or something you really wanted? I was trying to find reasons to memorize things, as Hari-P made me question which things would serve for all life (or useful small challenges). I tried brainstorming but couldn’t really think good reasons more than day to day things like remembering names or calendar things. What do you think?
Have a good weekend and see ya all
