I changed some images in my PAO after some time, I usually make small changes here and there, but this was my biggest change. I had some reasons for the change such as:
1. The actions not being vivid enough (I realize now this was silly because any action can be made vivid)
2. I used the chance to make the actions and objects more true to life.
3. I used the change to focus more on memory palace (unexpected but welcome
)
4.I used the change to remove more of my close relatives.
The problem with this change is the severe speed price I have to pay…
And also the long term encoding I have done with the old system (periodic table and 2 digits squares), to recall effectively I have to go back to the old, which I think may be hampering the change process ( I have achieved better familiarity but I am not still totally free of using the PAO for recall). I have tried ‘recoding’ with the new PAO but seems like too much work and wasted time.
I am asking for advice on how to move past this problem.
Thank you in advance.
I also changed my system so I get what you mean!
It depends what you want to use the PAO system for in the future. And whether you need to know the periodic table and the 2-digit squares.
If you need to know them, I’d suggest to try using associative memory (flashcards, spaced repetition) using the fact that you’ve already done some work putting these into long-term memory using PAO. (Periodic table being a great application of memory palaces). This is what I did for 2-digit squares, and I can recall any of them immediately, which is essential for larger calculations that use them. [I guess you’d also want to find something new to memorize using the new PAO.]
If you don’t need to know them, then just consider them as testing applications for your original PAO, and don’t keep them memorized because you don’t need them.
If you absolutely must store e.g. the periodic table in a memory palace with PAO, consider place in a new memory palace rather than rewriting the old one. (I’m not sure what’s best there.)
