Chain link method

Hi my name is sandeep from india now preparing for competative exams in government sector. I found that how memory techniques drastically improve our studies but we have to know how to implement. As a beginner i dont is it mandatory to maintain specific notes for my chain linking stories or memory palce notes to recall what ever you converted into memorable stories or images

Nothing is really mandatory, but it can help you when you start.

However, you want to train yourself to also turn the images back to the information you memorized. If you need notes for them all, your images might not be right.

What I did to start out was to turn the information in 3-4 key points. This is what I then turn into an image. As I form the image, I checked if I could recognize all key points easily. This is both a check, and a quick repetition. If you use loci or pegs, place the image there and create the interaction.

You do that for all bits of information, and when you have 10 or so images done, review all those.

Best of luck!

I’m only memorizing as a hobbiest—not for competitions or for any kind of testing—but I keep written records for all of my memory palaces, just in case I ever need to refresh the information. If you’re memorizing a significant amount of information, it’s really useful to have a written backup. (I had let a couple of memory palaces go ignored, without review, for a couple of years. It was amazing to me how quickly all of my mental images were restored after just a quick review of my notes.)
