Hi Guys!

I’m now about 2 - 3 weeks into my memory journey and this is amazing! I feel like for the first time I trust my brain.

Now one thing I seem to struggle is that a lot of information that I get on a day to day basis is loosely coupled meaning I get information from multiple categories constantly. This is giving me a lot of congitive load and is difficult.

I have tried to encode into pictures that I print where that acts as the memory palace and that works wonders but if I for instance hear something specific to a specific application I need to work on I don’t have a ready memory palace to place it in.

Also currently have a Macro Memory palace that is pretty solid and expandable in my head that I want to try and fill with information on the go.

How do you deal with random information passed to you?
You can create a memory palace on the go and I do this a lot of the time but how do I add it to my memory network so I can use spaced repetition on this?

I’m afraid I will forget the memory palace if it’s not in some way attached to a visualized network.

When random information is passed to you, for how long do you want to retain it?

  • For a short while, before you can either take action or write it down somewhere convenient? Then use a reusable fragment of a memory palace in an ad hoc way. I do this (yes, using a memory palace) and find it very useful. Typically, I use 3–6 locations before I can rinse it.

  • Indefinitely? Then I would suggest you want to either understand the information (so you don’t need a mnemonic to memorize it), write it down somewhere (so you don’t need a mnemonic either) or to accept that the information isn’t valuable enough to warrant your attention.

@Daniel_360 Thank you! Will try this. Found that over the past 2 days been processing the images on a different way where I first write down the information and then add it to a memory palace trying to go quicker and quicker.

My goal would be to be as fast as life is going to store the information without taking notes but this is a future goal to be worked towards.

For now some premade memory palaces that have a couple of locations for work information or other kinds of information would be of good help.
