Do you keep your cards in a well known place or a spur of the moment place, for those that memerize cards.
I tried three times. One in a well known place best results. Two in a bookcase i was looking at. Three I tried by drawing random images and assigning cards to each (very poor).

Absolutely use an instantly navigable and familiar palace with the number of loci needed for a full deck. Each locus should be immediately recognizable and unique within that palace.
If there is hesitation about what location is next, how it can be interacted with, or if there is any possibility of confusion or swapping with another location in that palace, it will steal focus and time. Weak palaces are one of the biggest killers of recall accuracy and overall speed.
To get better at cards, work towards:
Zero hesitation or second guessing with your card-to-image recognition/translation.
Zero hesitation or second guessing with your memory palace sequence.
Zero hesitation with scene building and creating interaction with your mnemonic elements.
