Hello there, been out of school more than 20 years. I need help memorize this please.
Just need to get thru the materials will take exam on Nov. 1. after I promise will read how to memorize. For now please help.
Representation on the board (BOD).
Participation in policy making process
Material transactions between investor and the associate
Interchange of managerial personnel.
Provision of essential technical information.
There is a long BOARD of wood tied to the back of a POLICE officer. The officer is giving miniature TRANSylvania vampire ACTION figures to a large crowd of faceless PERSONNEL dressed in cliche suits and ties like managers. They then turn and start to throw huge thick TECHNICAL INFORMATION manuals onto a huge bonfire.
I memorized it yesterday like in 2 minutes wow! and can still memorize it today. Just have to remember the story. This thing works! thank you! more to come on taxation. God bless you! Thank you very much!
Glad its working for you! I think a real key is that you’ve been able to simplify things down to a key bolded term that will then trigger your established understanding of each overall point. Once that happens it can often be very easy to use representational imagery (such as soundalike visualizable nouns to stand in for abstractions) to encode that information in a memorable way.
This idea of “understanding before memorizing” seems like common sense but many people post on here asking for tips and tricks to memorize things like this verbatim hoping that by doing so it will bring success on exams or whatnot, when in fact the best way to approach study via memory techniques is to develop understanding of the material FIRST, so that it can be distilled down to those key points and THEN memorized.
Feel free to post up any other things you’re working on, happy to help!
Non-deductable could be represented by a Duck dressed as a Nun! A “NUN-deDUCKtable.” A giant rubber duck, or donald duck, or whatever works for you. Imagine this nun-duck doing a series of actions to or with things that will represent the items in that section of the list.
For the non-taxable section, maybe the main character can be a neon taxi. A big cartoony taxi like in the cars movie, outlined in neon light. Have it run over imagery that represents those points.
See what you can up with, if you’re still stuck I’ll give you some suggestions!
So the NUN-DUCK hands over some CASH (pay) to a giant beating HEART (life)
The heart hands the nun-duck a STOCK CERTIFICATE DOCUMENT (capital gains/loss) which he promptly rips in HALF (50%).
The nun-duck then tries to use the stock certificate to PAY for a set of GOLF CLUBS.
a TAX COLLECTOR pops out of the golf bag, holds up a RED CARD like in soccer (penalty) and forces the nun-duck to PAY him, with INTEREST.
The tax collector then turns around and funnels the payment to a CORRUPT POLITICIAN who cackles at this large CONTRIBUTION.
The NEON-TAXI crashes into the rear END of the famous sculpture “DAVID.” (DAVID END, dividend)
The sculptor is sad, but then realizes he can cash in the LIFE INSURANCE that he took out on the statue. He RECIEVES a huge comically oversize check in the mail and celebrates.
Hope this helps! Good luck! Please let me know how you do!
The sillier the better! Good luck, I hope you do great. Its a pretty wild feeling being able to recall those scenes and decode them for the answers. Almost feels like a cheat code!
Just want to let you know I did very well on my final exam. There is only one exam on this program, no assignments or projects or quizzes, just one exam at the end and whatever your grade is that is going to be your grade for the course.
I came back to let you know I got 87.5%. Passing is 60% for this course. I’m so happy. Thank you very much for the help.
The exam was not more on memorization it was more on analysis as it was tricky, but since I understand the concept, I still managed to get to the right answer and mechanical part of Accounting I was able to do the deferred tax and journal entries with confidence as I knew my story ahahha.
