Ive practiced Vipassana meditation 2x. Its a 10 day silent meditation and a hardcore intro to ancient meditation techniques practiced by Buddha. Overall I think Vipassana is a complete cult and don’t buy into their precepts but the meditation is strong.

On day 1 you’re very restless and difficult to steady the mind for even a minute, by day 10 you can feel electric pulses and sensations anywhere you train your brain to feel. To practice meditation simply sit on the floor cross legged and focus on the smallest part below your nose or focus on your breath. When you find your mind wandering don’t be upset just simply go back to focusing on your breath. Set a timer and do 15, 30 or even best 1 hour a day (if you want to meditate).

I personally find meditation too boring and I find my mind is primarily in a meditative state while doing something like cards since my entire focus is all on the object at hand. But Vipassana is a free course and can introduce you into hardcore techniques. Many others out there as well.

If you haven’t seen them yet, there are some discussions about meditation on the site: https://forum.artofmemory.com/search?q=meditation

Edit: see also meditation

Silva Mind Control was discussed in these threads:

Further reading: Silva Method

I think some kinds of meditation could be useful, but the Silva Method doesn’t look credible.
