The Memory League World Tour is now approaching the end of its fifth year!
By the end of 2025, we will have organized 15 SLAM tournaments, 15 World Tour seasons, and will conclude this cycle with the fifth Online Memory League World Championship in January 2026.
Over these years, hundreds of memory athletes from around the world have taken part. A big thank you goes to all supervisors, helpers, and especially Simon Orton, who has handled all the work behind the scenes to keep Memory League running so smoothly. ![]()
As we approach this milestone, it’s the perfect moment to reflect, re-evaluate, and improve the structure of the World Tour — and we’d love your input.
Why Now?
So far, many of the decisions about rules, tournaments, and formats have been made by a small group of dedicated volunteers and supervisors who have been part of the journey from the very beginning. Their contributions have been invaluable.
But with the sport growing and evolving, it’s time to broaden the conversation and invite more voices into the process — to make the World Tour even more inclusive, transparent, and community-driven.
We’re Looking for Volunteers
We’re forming a working group on Slack to discuss, refine, and vote on potential improvements for the 2026 World Tour.
Who we’re looking for:
- Active and engaged community members
- People willing to think about topics, discuss ideas, and contribute actively
- A diverse group in terms of cultural background, language, gender, and skill level
(Everyone’s perspective matters — from newcomers to top athletes!)
To make good progress, it’s important that members of the Slack group can dedicate time each week to reflect on topics, take part in the conversations, and help shape decisions.
Everyone’s Input Is Welcome
Even if you can’t commit the time for the Slack group, you’re still very welcome to share your thoughts, feedback, and suggestions right here in this forum thread.
All input shared here will be considered by the Slack group as part of their discussions.
So whether you want to be actively involved in the working group or simply share ideas here in the thread, your voice matters!
How It Will Work (Draft Plan)
Here’s how we currently imagine the process — this is just a draft, and the group may adjust or refine it as we go:
- The Slack group will meet asynchronously (no fixed meeting times)
- Each week, we’ll focus on one concrete topic (e.g. rules, tournament structure, rankings)
- At the end of each week, we’ll hold a democratic vote on decisions
- The goal: concrete, community-driven improvements for the 2026 World Tour
This structure is meant to give us a clear starting point — but it’s open to change once the group begins its work.
How Participants Will Be Selected
For now, our plan is to welcome everyone who volunteers into the Slack group — we’d love as many active voices as possible.
If it turns out that too many people want to join (which we currently don’t expect), we may later hold a democratic vote among the community to choose delegates who represent the athletes’ perspectives within the group.
Either way, the process will be transparent and fair, ensuring that everyone has a chance to be heard and represented.
