Best Method for Memorising Biology?

Hello,

I am fairly new to using memory techniques, and the main ones that I have been using so far are memory palaces and the Major system for numbers.

However, I have a couple of questions and I would really appreciate someone helping me out.

Firstly, what is the best way to learn biology? I am learning it on my International Baccalaurate course, at standard level, but I am struggling a little with memorising all of the terms easily and effeciently. Do you have any advice? Because a memory palace type of thing is a little difficult, as I often have to deal with lots of large words that don’t relate to much else. For instance, monosaccharide. How would you break that down?

Another quick questions; what is the best way to organise memory palaces? I would like to create them for all my IB subjects, but how would I go about doing that and keeping them organised at the same time?

Thank you very much.

When you have a large word, you can break it up into pieces. I would break it into: mono-sack-a-ride. The word, mono, means monkey in Spanish. To combine that with a sack and a ride, I might picture a monkey inside of a sack on a roller coaster. Then link that image to the definition.

One idea is to have a memory palace of memory palaces, where each location in the index palace would link to a different journey.
