Another note about repetition. Why are people so reluctant to give them up?
-
People don’t have a complete understanding of mnemonics.
-
People haven’t given up the old model of remembering and are trying to use in the new one (mnemonics), there is no complete information.
-
Mnemonics are considered unproductive, they say, both there and repeat, read X times faster than something from memory to reproduce. They think…
-
They consider mnemonics difficult. It takes a lot of energy (NO!), I’m more used to the old way, because I have success in school and at work.
-
They believe that in today’s world there is no need to memorize, everything is on google…
An additional option: (mercantile $$$ ) people who are saboteurs. They make mnemonics look primitive and unworkable, stupid and “childish”. Or say that it is only intended to memorize numbers, words, and other things. Circus and mnemosport. And they say, it works, but in life you are not useful.
-
“Do not see the benefit”. Until a person shows them by example, they will not try to understand.
-
Distorted perception of mnemonics, resentment. People who think they are smart realize that they are not so smart and they have engaged in simulated learning. So they hate to bring up mnemonics even more.
-
No understanding of the difference between the mechanism of text repetition and mnemonic reinforcement of communication
Some of the reasons are repetitive, and you can find cause and effect relationships.
