Let’s take this map as an example.
Don’t worry,you do not have to know any of the places here.
I will simply attempt to explain my train of thought which led me into this.
I had to associate each state here with some particular place in them.I had troubles with imagining them,as a state is a rather abstract concept,I could have used symbolism (some special feature as a representative of the state),but assigning images based on shapes turned out far more interesting since they can interact.
Let’s say,you have to memorise the states through which a river passes.
I shall take ‘Tapti’ as an example.You can see it on the bottom right of the grey state called ‘Gujarat’ in the map.To the right is the red state ‘Madhya Pradhesh’ And below both of them is ‘Maharashtra’
1.Gujarat looks like a upside down pigeon.
2.Madhya Pradesh looks like a Monolith structure,stacked over each other,with 3 heads ,one short ,middle broad,and last is very broad.
3.Maharashtra is Godzilla,the green state below is his fire.
See that ‘Tapti’ appears to be binding the tail of the pigeon(Gujarat),passing through the big back scale of Godzilla(Maharashtra),entering between the monoliths(Madhya Pradesh)?

I am aware that imagining states as objects isn’t somthing novel,but I just found the river part of quite interesting to me!
*I have also encoded the shape of tapti using gregg shorthand (stenography). That’s a very specific use case, I think. I broke down it’s path into a short horizontal straight line(n),a concave curve(k) and a convex curve (r),and then another curve cut at a slightly different angle (th)

**Another advise to my fellow learners is that even for unrelated information,it’s fine to encode it together in a story or palace.Its all about being able to imagine a word/piece of information,in some imaginary form,in some imaginary space.
I used to worry plenty about this,but finally gave it a try and got rid of this purist tendency.
