Hi competitors,

Welcome to the African-European Open! Please read the following information about the tournament.

Structure

You can see the championship structure on the championship page here: Memory League

Photos

If you haven’t previously done so, or you want to update your photo, please send me a photo of yourself for the championship pages. You can do this in a private message here in the forum, or email it to [email protected].

Scheduling Matches

When you have a qualification match to play, you will see a “Scheduling” tab for the championship.

  1. Enter your available times on the Scheduling page, by clicking the appropriate boxes in the Availability table, as early as possible.
  2. On the Scheduling page, you will find a link to a private message in the forum. Use this message to agree on a match time with your opponent.
  3. When you have agreed on the match time, one of you should enter it on the Scheduling page so the match appears on the Home page.

Recording Matches

You will be contacted if your match will be streamed live on Memory Sports TV.

If your match is not streamed live, record a video of yourself playing your matches. You can use a phone or other device to do this. Make sure it is plugged in, has sufficient storage space, and will not make any sounds that may disturb you. The camera should be positioned such that your face, hands and screen are visible, as shown on page 4 of the World Tour Rules.

At the start of the video, you should:

  1. State your name, your opponent’s name, and the date.
  2. Show around the room.
  3. Show your ears, and any ear protection you will use.

After the match, upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted video, and email the link to [email protected]. Please do this as soon as you can after the match, and by the end of the week (Sunday GMT) at the latest. Upload your video even if you lost, as your opponent may forfeit if they do not upload their video.

Good luck everyone!

Hello,Is there another way to load vedio

Thanks very much to those who uploaded their videos for round 1- however, due to the effort involved for competitors and supervisors, we have decided to only require videos for the last round of the qualifiers now.

So Round 4?

Yes, videos are required for round 4.

I offered my opponent Spencer many different times over two days for our game. I told him that it was impossible to play at other times. He offered the same time to play over two days on the weekend. He won and I lost. What are the rules? I don’t understand???

Hi @Sava,

Sorry, I didn’t see that communication. I set up a message to arrange the match and there were no messages from you there.

Hi, Simon. Please explain to me how the victory is awarded by default to the opponent in the qualifying match (the 2024 African and European Open) if I wrote a letter to the opponent in a timely manner (on Monday) with a request to hold the match on certain days (due to a business trip before the end of the week), offered 11-12 options for the match time. My opponent offered no more than 5 time options, and it was on those days when I was busy on a business trip. Moreover, by not agreeing to hold a qualifying match at the time I suggested, the opponent was holding open matches with random athletes at the same time.

I am really asking for clarification on this issue. Because during my ML games, there was not a single case that I was late for a match or did not show up for it. I always try to plan everything in a timely manner and meet my rivals halfway.

if I hadn’t seen that the opponent was playing in the open at the time I proposed, I would have agreed to his victory by default. And now there is a sense of injustice.

I will clarify that I did not choose the time randomly. I saw my opponent at open matches at the same time. And the opponent offered several options, exclusively at 00, 02 and 04 in the morning.

I really ask for clarification so that I know how to behave in such situations.

Sincerely, Anna

Thank you for answering my question. I realized my mistake. Now I am interested in the question about Anna. This can be useful for every player. Kai Ozawa suggested a game time when the opponent had night and refused to play at another time. But she turned out to be the winner in this game. What happened? Can you find out the reason for this decision?

Hi. I want to thank you for the answer without answer. I realized that a weak player can assign a game for his opponent when the opponent has night, for example 2 or 4 am. And not agree to play at any other time. He will be able to win then. This is advice for weak players.

Hi Andrej,

I’m sorry for the way things turned out. But I messaged you in the private forum if you could play any other day but you did not answer.

I did see that you had availabilities only on Monday but that is in the middle of my work day and as I only saw on Monday morning I could not make arrangements that last minute.

Let’s get some friendly matches in sometime

Hi. No problem. I was in another country for the Open Memory Championship. In our case, I thought it was right to determine the winner by lot or some other method specified by the rules. There are no rules for such a case when both participants failed to play in the specified time.
