0-9 or 0-99?

So I just finished Moonwalking With Einstein and I’m trying to create some hooks for my memory. Happily, I’ve got strong, vivid images for the numbers 0-9, but I’m wondering if I should, from this point on, just combine those on top of each other to make images for larger numbers (like 100 would be my image for 1 and then two of my images for 0), or if I should actually have unique images for all of them. Seems like, ideally, I would have unique images for every number between 00 and 99, but I wonder if that’s a recipe for a muddled, messy system.

You should use unique images for each number 00-99, such that you’ll have 100 unique images. Many people have done this, and it takes less time than you think to learn them. What you’re describing (using two separate images to form 34, for example), is still just a single-digit system, and while this will work, you’ll start encountering the same images again and again, since you just have 10 images, and this will begin to be confusing. If you’re only interesting in memorizing small amounts of small numbers, this may not be a problem, but if you’re interesting in learning hundreds, or thousands of numbers, probably best to invest the time to learn a real 00-99 system.

@tracym yeah that’s what I figured, thank you for confirming!
