It will be interesting to see if you change any of them later. I did with mine. I put in more visually vivid characters who I could recall faster. Over time I swapped out quite a few.

I might. I’m not thrilled with some of them, though at this point, I’d rather have an imperfect but complete system instead of endlessly messing about with an incomplete one. Once I’ve got all 100, I might change out a few.

I did the same. I didn’t force it, it just happened. I was going over digits of Pi today and noticed SL fits this pattern. I can’t remember who SL was originally, but he is now a Slogger who thumps / slogs everyone. Not sure if that is a global English use, or just Australian. Violence is always memorable.

By the way, I’m amazed at how useful PAO is for normal, everyday things. I was chatting with another mom at the playground the other day, and she mentioned the number of the Girl Scout troop her daughters were in (I want my daughter to join the same troop). It was a simple four-digit number, and I did not even bother writing it down because it was so easy to remember it (one simple mental image that I attached to her and her daughters in the memory file). That’s another one in the “Where has this been all my life???” category.
One of the things I want to work on, once the PAO system is finished, is to get better at the “memory palace building/visualizing/organizing” side of things, and maybe get a few more memory palaces going. RIght now, I’ve got four - my house, my old apartment, the History Walk around the park, and a walk around the block where my house is. I’m putting Act 3 of Hamlet there, and possibly Acts 4 and 5 as well. What I find is that I’m not terribly organized about my memory palaces and I’m definitely not marking every 5th spot the way I’m supposed to, so I think it’s time to step it up a bit.

I abandoned all logic and decided to do something kind of weird for my Dominic system(that IS what you guys are talking about when you say PAO, right?). I’ve got the 0 - 99(100 characters total), yeah? But instead of existing words, I’m naming the characters similar to their corresponding digits.
Attached you will find an image of the first fifteen.
They will all have their own backstories, preferences, and motivations. They will all have relationships with each other to some extent, some more than others, like a regular social network(they all work for the same organization and there’s a mandatory cook out every quarter[the organization name is TBD, but I’m the CEO and owner of the company]). I’m particularly fond of some, but I’ll get to know them well.
I may or may not be using them in place of friends. They’re very nice to me. They make me choke up with their kindness occasionally.

I am very excited about finding someone who can print on hard, clear plastic cards. I want to make illustrations for each character in a transparent png file in photoshop and have them printed. If anyone knows a good company that will print just 100 unique illustrations like that, please do let me know. So far I can only find cards in a minimum of 250 per order with the same design on each.
And if by chance someone knows someone that can make lukasas for money, I’m interested. I can not for the life of me get access to any sort of tool in my area and lack the funds with which to purchase them.

Actually, I was taking them in random order, driven by logical associations rather than either the Dominic Method or the Major System method. When an obvious association between a number and a person occurred to me, I’d add it to the list and practice looking for it on license plates and house numbers. That’s most of my list, and it appears to be sticking surprisingly well, considering that it follows no recognizable pattern and makes no sense to anyone other than me.
But I have to confess to being stumped by the remaining numbers on my list.

On the Internet, gender is pretty damn irrelevant, I’ve always thought. We’re all brains in jars here, especially on this forum.

If you want to do a lukasa the easy, cheap way, then just get a wood off-cut from a building site, or an old mobile phone case or … anything solid that will fit in your hand. You can get beads and shells cheaply from a charity shop - or the bottom drawer where old jewellery lives. I have a charity shop collect all the broken jewellery they get given and I buy it by the bag for almost nothing.
You can work out the arrangement by pinning on the beads and shells, if it is a soft wood, and then glue them. Or just glue from the start.
My bird lukasa works fine even though I just glued them on at random - it would be better had I designed it to suit the data.
