I am glad you are taking this in a humorous way.

Climbformemory has the best attitude! Follow the lead everyone, for a good memory.

My recommendation is for everyone to follow Climbformemory on youtube and watch his videos!! They are supergood.

Hello Simon,

Francis “devil” Blondin here. Once again it’s very tempting to correct the record and respond to what you have written here and elsewhere, but once again I’ll refrain from doing so. As I told you I’ll be back in Montreal the same day as you will be and I’m willing to meet you in person anywhere you want and discuss calmly and honestly for as long you want. Please accept my invitation instead of writing all those posts that obviously aren’t helping you nor anyone else. It’s not a trap or a form of “unbelievable propaganda”, it’s just an attempt for the 2 of us to understand each other a little better.

I think all this discussion, although a bit difficult at times, is very good because it gets me thinking and I often get brand new ideas when I think.

So, the problem as I see it is that the world is divided, and so you cannot really have a single world memory champion. All you we can have is this or that organization’s world champion. So, I am thinking now, why shouldn’t I run a world championship too?

At first, I would be inclined to reject the idea because it seems like the world does not need more confusion as to who is the World Champion. But what if I just open a new section in the Canadian Memory Championships and call it the “World Open Section”?

Under that section, I could run a mostly self administered competition (just as we do with the provincials) open to anyone in the world on some weekend.

Now, if you were to win that World Open Section, you would just be a Canadian Memory Championship world open section winner. You would thus still be a Canadian Memory Championships winner and not a World Championship winner.

And we would not have any problem with sharing this championship on alternate years with other memory sport organisations that might like to run it too, and so there could finally be a multi headed competition, eventually. Yea, this sounds cool enough. I have to discuss this idea with my Board…

Thanks for discussing the ideas with me everyone.
