2022 World Tour and 2023 World Championship : Ideas and thoughts

Would be cool to have those Regional Tournaments going.

Which is why it is great to get the word out already now. How many athletes know that they could potentially arrange an Online Competition?
We could make one post about it, more detailed and get the word about it. Including the behind the scene details, so the know the 1…2 and 3 on How to do it. Would be great to participate in atleast one of them!

Any thoughts on having ranking behind them? Would be down to give millenial standard, as it is used in the Standard events, simply just find the corresponding IAM level and compare it with the Standard events. It could also just be “Online ranking”

-Braden, what do you say about arranging North American Regional Memory League tournament?

There are some young up and comers that I think will challenge them soon(vishvaa, bastian, naoki). Not to mention veterans like Katie and Simon who have recent wins against Alex, and Id also never count out Jan Zon, he almost beat Alex that first set and I think he was a bit deflated after the tough loss. Also, this player from China who has recently joined ML has some crazy scores. Im sure there are many others too who are very tough, Koba, Yas, Emanuele, etc

Perhaps to add to @BradenExplosion 's idea, more tournaments like the Russian one where there was overall finalists, and also different divisions which allowed players who are not top end players to have good competition, I really liked that setup. This also keeps our players who are new active and we could see them develop.

Maybe we could set something like that up Braden. A “North American” tournament open to everyone but top finishes mentioned for North American players and set in Eastern or Central time, this would be similar to the Pan American which I still think we should keep. But I really liked the idea the Russian tournament had with 3 different divisions as this gave all players a chance to compete. Kudos to @Ilya_Gubenko and @Gayankaa for that.

On a personal side, I’d love to see more open tourneys like the Russian ones. Due to my schedule i can’t commit to play in qualifiers, so it was nice to get the opportunity to play in something but my schedule is very odd.

I also think a fundraiser tournament for Alzheimer’s would be a cool idea.

The comparison to tennis slams actually makes a lot of sense to me. Good points all around. I guess I was just thinking about them incorrectly. And it’s unfair of me to argue the ‘spirit’ of them when you’re the person who really created this whole thing, so if anyone understands it, it’s you @Hannes.

You’re right, we do see a lot of the top tennis players facing off all the time and that’s just how it is, and of course there’s the odd upset which is exciting.

I think it’d be good to get more regional events going, like Hannes said, Japan has been doing this, and we’ve seen Russia and others do it too. These I guess are independent of the ML Seasons/World Tour but are still fun and important.

Thanks for the civil dialogue about all these different issues! I’m really looking forward to the 2023 World Tour!

What about removing playoff in league seasons? In tennis, there is no addition to Slams in the form of regular worldwide seasons. I think that without the playoffs there will be fewer matches between Alex and Andrea. After all, if it were not for the seasons, we would not have seen the match Alex - Andrea at all last year before the World Champ. Because Andrea and Alex did not cross paths in Slams. They competed only in seasons.

In the spirit of removing the play-offs, I really liked the concept of having seasons with much larger divisions (see seasons 1-3). There’s the issue of making everyone play all their matches of course (although with longer seasons there might be more chances to catch up) and the issue of having to wait longer if you’ve missed the deadline for entering one season, until the next season starts … plus that it messes with the three-slam rhythm…

Hi all,

the League Season 14 has just finished with play-off matches and finals to be played in April.

Are there any information regarding upcoming tournaments, i.e. the first slam of the year (and the next season)? I would assume it will be happening in May again, so people (including me) may want to plan and prepare for it…

Also, there are two World Rankings in the ML Rankings section, one for the 2021/2022 Year and one Current. If I understood correctly, there will be no points for the qualifying process of the slams (Season Scores Leaderbord) anymore, so I assume that the Current World Rankings get updated with Season 14 replacing Season 11 once it is finished? I’m looking forward to see those changes!

I also enjoyed the larger divisions in the beginning of the Seasons!
Since the seasons are not used as qualifying for the slams (but the qualifying is based on the World Rankings as I understood), and anyone can join a slam qualification tournament 3 times a year, I do not weigh those downsides you mentioned too heavily.

One idea i had recently is a Rookie Championship for new players. This would be at the end of the year.

  • Eligible only to those who have begun on memoryleague since 2022 and have not competed in any IAM competitions prior to 2022.

My thoughts behind this are:

  • Would demonstrate to the world how quickly people can develop.
  • We could stream it and get these newer players used to playing on stream and in a competition.
  • Provides a nice competition opportunity for new players.

So… my World Ranking was very low last year as a new player, is that resetting? I still see 2021’s rankings.

As far as I understand it, the “2021/2022” world ranking is basically the permanent snapshot of the world ranking after the final match of the world championship in January which was also the end of the 2021/2022 World Tour.

The “current” world ranking is still based on the same data but taking into account the score selection criteria of the new World Tour, in particular no SSL points and qualification points anymore and only 4 scores total.

@Bigdonnyv Each season and Slam will replace its counterpart of last year, so the scores of Season 14 will replace those of Season 11, the scores of the first Slam those of the last year’s first Slam etc… . For some players, nothing will change because their new score will not change anything with regard to their total of the best 4 scores. For some, it will go up or down.

Hello

First of all, thank you to those who created this site.
Then I have some suggestions

In competition between two competitors
Group competition can also be included
That is, three competitors with three other competitors (randomly)
Friendly and score

There are some problems with words in Persian and nouns
Even when I answer them correctly, they are considered wrong.

Problems are and will be solved gradually if consensus is reached.

In the end of every league match or tournament, the winner is always andrea & alex.

I am just curious to know if these 2 guys not play league 1 time, who will be the winner. that’s interesting to see.

Did simon see word’s database ?
Is it possible to see the words database of memory league. (In my language word’s database there are lots of mistakes, I like to see it, only if it’s possible.) :slightly_smiling_face:

The weak player slowly beats every people and reaches the top, while that top athlete just looking at him.

Seriously, they (top players) can even make strategy against that weak player if it reaches at top by playing against every opponent. (If they don’t know about their games, it’s hard for strong players to know, what’s the weak and strong point of weak players.)

well , I like to see the information of how many games I won and lose in lifetime in memory league (on memory league profile section.)

So that everyone can see it. (Maybe what’s my accuracy in every game too.)
