Each year I’m at the Junior Mental Calculation World Championship in Germany as part of the team training all the competitors, but of course this year the event had to be cancelled.
So I’ve organized an online event to replace this (similar to the MSO event last month open to all ages) and two of the finals are this Sunday!
The event for 12-14 years happened last Sunday, with Asmita Pal, Gunishka Jain, Sreenidhi Neermanvi and Abhilakshya Arora getting the medals.
On Sunday we have the under-12s final, including some well-known juniors including:
- Aaryan Shukla
- Archita Pal
- Kaloyan Geshev
- Stiaan Scheepers
- Vandan Nyati
There’s also the under-20s final, with sixteen competitors including:
- Mohammad El Mir
- Radhika Maheshwari
Up-to-date information including the schedule and the results can be found here: Junior Mental Calculation Online
I’m also running a livestream (although a little more smoothly than for the MSO last August!) so that you can follow along with the questions, learn something new about mental maths, and support the young participants. That will be hosted here on Facebook.
