New Member : Ivor (in Japan)

My name is Ivor, originally from the UK but now I live in Japan. In my regular life I teach English at a university. I like to study psychology and in a round about way , through Sherlock on TV using memory palace, I discovered that the world record for memorizing a shuffled deck of cards is 13 seconds or so. I decided that I wanted to see how fast I could memorize a deck. Eventually I would like to memorize multiple decks quickly. I have a vivid imagination, so maybe I can use that to my advantage.

I also think it would be fun to memorize my student names, ID numbers etc for the first day of class and do roll call by memory.

So far I am building a memory palace out if my old room. I am also using the Dominic System and Journey method. So far it has been fun. I have a practice deck and I learned half the deck in two hours (including making the list of 26 names). Long way to go, but happy with that result.

I decided to join Art of Memory to make new friends with similar interests.
Looking forward to meeting you.
