Needing a comprehensive book about the influence of mathematical discoveries

Hi everyone,

I wanted a book of series of books which shows how a mathematical discovery built upon
prior math and furthered mathematics in general…A survey if you will.

Any help would be appreciated.

I’m not sure if it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but there is a book called The Math Book: From Pythagoras to the 57th Dimension by Clifford A. Pickover that has an overview of mathematicians and discoveries. There’s also a quick overview in Math in Minutes by Paul Glendinning.

Someone else here might have better suggestions though.
