I have some questions about the Dominick system.

Thank you for the quick reply. However Mayarra how do you realize when you are decoding that 582 is not 58 02. So if u use a (P-A) for 58-2 you are saying you have a code for both the number 2 and the number 02?

Yes, 110 images total. 00 to 99 and 0 to 9.

As Dominic suggests in his book, every number is associated with a shape. For instace, the number 582 would be 58-2. Now, how would you remember it? Make the 2 an image (sorry for repeating Maya). It become a swan because the swan looks like a 2. Then think of your person in 58, say in my case it is Edgar Haley (a friend of mine). So how I would remember 582 is like this - my friend is being attacked by lots of swans and I cannot do anything to save him. But this method doesn’t generally work for the reason because then you will have a lot of swans and a lot of elephants (for 6). A three digit Major system / Ben system is much more preferable with 1000 images than using PAO.

It’s simple to use the number-rhyme or number-shape methods for extra single digits.

Or expand your Person list into three digits.

how is it easy to expand your person list to 3 digits?
if you use the number rhyme or shape system then i dont understand if you use the system to denote the 5 or the 2 in this example… 582.
also for 5802…then will you have to generate 4 images as opposed to 2 images.
58- 1 image
0-1 image ( ball )
2- 1 image (swan)

58-2 or 5-82…seems most likely would be using the 2 therefore you will have less of the swans as it is a specific number. However how do you represent

brownmeister, some of the top echelon of mental athletes use a 3-digit system, which requires memorizing 1000 people or objects. The rest of us 99% use a 2-digit system, which just requires memorizing 100 people or objects. How easy is it to memorize a 3-digit system? I don’t really know. I guess it depends on how much time you have to devote to it and how badly you want to do it.

I think maybe you’re making this harder than it has to be. If the number you’re trying to memorize is 5802, then you simply use your person/object for 58 along with your person/object for 02. For my Major System, this would be a LEAF and the SUN. I might imagine a LEAF dropping onto the SUN and being burned to a crisp. Simple. Place this image on your first locus and move along to your next locus, ready to memorize another 4-digit number.

If your number is 582, however, you could use your 58 image (LEAF), along with an image you use for single digits, where 2 might be a SWAN. You would imagine the LEAF being eaten by a SWAN, perhaps. What Karan was trying to tell you, though, is if you have a LOT of these 3-digit numbers to memorize, this system might get confusing. Let’s say to have 100 of these 3-digit numbers to memorize. You’ll end up using the SWAN quite a bit, along with the other images you use for your single digits. This makes it tougher to memorize (if you don’t believe me, just try it), and this is why a 2-digit system is MUCH better than a 1-digit system when you have a lot of things to memorize.

If you find yourself in a situation where you must memorize a lot of 3-digit numbers (or really any ODD-digit numbers), you might need to bite the bullet and develop a 3-digit system. Alternatively, you could use the Brad Zupp method, which I will try to summarize: for the number 582, you would convert this into 58 and 82 (repeating the middle digit). In my system, this would be a LEAF and a FAN. I might imagine a LEAF being shredded to bits by a metal FAN. During recall, your mind converts the 5882 into 582, because you remember that you’re memorizing only 3-digits. You’ll be amazed how easily your mind can do this.

thank you for explaining it. I think i was not explaining my question well enough. I think learning a 3 digit system is too much! But i just wanted to know if i needed to learn 10 images for 0-9 and also 01-09. I think i will need to, just seemed silly to have to learn those numbers twice. But as Mayarra stated earlier…110 images are needed. She understood my question exactly.
Thank you guys for taking the time to explain this to me!

Thank you! I’ve been searching for an hour trying to find out how you use a 2-digit system like Dominic to memorize 3-digit numbers. This is such a simple solution, appreciate it! Will look more into Brad Zupp…

I know i made this more confusing than it need to be however there is a few questions that bothered me…because if it is 3 digits then where to put the single digit. Put at the beginning or the end ?
582- Use the 2 as the single digit or use the 5? 58–2 or 5–82
i was considering using the 5 as it gives a more intuitive feel for the numbers. As if i use my number shape system for the 5 then every time i have a number shape system i know im using the 100s. However then there will be alot of number shape system digits and it might confusing.

brownmiester, I don’t think it would matter whether you memorize your single digit as the first digit or the last digit in a three-digit number. Just stay consistent. 5-82 might be a HAND getting mangled in a FAN. 58-2 might be a LEAF being eaten by a SWAN. Either will give you 582.
