# How to go about visualizing memory palaces?

How do you visualize a memory palace? When I visualize creating a memory palace I often get a headache. I have difficulty sometimes in visualizing some of my memory palaces. Especially when the memory places in question are poorly lit. When I visualize such spaces I cannot help but see it as anything other than poorly lit. Another curious fact seems to be that the closer I go near a loci the harder it becomes to properly visualize it. It feels like I am actually getting crosseyed with my eyes closed! Does everyone feel the same way? Am I doing something wrong?

Just visualize it. Try to start with places you know the best, ie your home.

Dark? Add torches/lights.

Don’t go too close to loci.
