# How to begin using memory palace?

Hi,
I’m a complete beginner. I’ve read forums and some topics on this site which have been very useful. I hope to develop and strengthen my mind and memory.
I have decided to use my childhood home as my first memory palace, as I know it well.
My question is: once I’ve chosen all the locis and developed a journey, how do I use this to now start strengthening my memory? I’ve read about PAO systems and the Major systems etc. This all seems too much to start getting into all at once. I imagine these tools should be used at a later stage?
How should I tread?

Well ShaDoWShah,
honestly when it comes to memorizing, I use peg system + link system, it’s very comfortable to me unlike using Method of loci with PAO, well i still use Loci.
**For numbers** , I suggest starting with creating your peg or ask someone to give you a premade peg, like this:
0 - eye(Image)
1 - gun
2 - shoe
3 - tree
4 - door
5 - hive
6 - stick
7 - heaven
8 - aid
9 - nun
10 - pen
Now, once you’ve done that, try creating 11-100 pegs by using the 1-10 pegs.
e.g: 99 = conjoined nuns, 43 = tree with a visible door.
then for 101-10000, you can use the latter 11-100 pegs like this:
e.g: 9943 = conjoined nuns living in a treehouse.
Now you will remember conjoined nuns living in a treehouse is 9943.
**For images/words/names/actions** , just use link or loci, differs on your comfortability, I suggest trying both.
