Hey guys! (long time no see) I am in a brief interlude between climbing endeavours, so I haven’t been practicing mnemonics for a while, but, this time, I’d like to take something with me to memorise. Since I still haven’t come up with any 0-99 list, I’d like to do so now. However, I am facing a lot of difficulties to finish it up. Could you help me? Better names than the ones I got are also much appreciated. The list may include any cartoon character, super-hero or “science fiction” movie characters. Hopefully, what I got might be useful for some of you too. That’s interesting. I never think of H sounding like R. For me there is no connection between these sounds. That said, I have noticed some people coming from a different language background treating them as similar. Funny how our perception of language works. As it happens, I do pronounce H, but it has no associated numeric value within the major system for me. To me, Hulk is pure 57. 🙂 ---

It’s really an interesting list. I am taking some of it for substitute words in my major system. Thank you. But sorry as I am not much of a comics reader. But I do love movies. Sorry again. No suggestions ---

So, for you, rat is 41, but hat is just pure 1, right? I wonder if that’s how most native English-speakers see a beginning “h”, i.e., as NOT belonging to the same “phonetic class” of “r”. That’s really interesting… Best! M. ---

As far as I know, most native English speakers would not perceive the H as similar to R. I am a North American accustomed to a fairly standard variety of the dialect. Not sure whether that exactly qualifies me to be the spokesperson for the majority of native English speakers. I have noticed Portuguese speakers often associate Rs and Hs, as did a Mandarin-speaking Chinese gentleman I knew who used to teach me French. Actually, he substituted H for the French R common in Montreal, not the English R that I use… Interesting topic, indeed. ---

I took 29 of them and I think they will solve many of my problems. Thanks again. Great list. Superheroes are memorable
