Dinosaurs: Asteroid or Volcanos?

It looks like there is still some debate about what killed the dinosaurs.

A Princeton geologist has endured decades of ridicule for arguing that the fifth extinction was caused not by an asteroid but by a series of colossal volcanic eruptions. But she’s reopened that debate.

Are there any geologists here? What do you think?

It is not really a debate anymore. Most of the academic world agree about the asteroid collision, the article even mentions it.

What most people don’t know is that prior to the asteroid impact, earth was experiencing a climate change. For 2 million years there was a lot of volcanic activity going on but it is the combination of the asteroid impact and its consequences together with the volcanic activity that created the extincion of the dinosaurs. A lot more other things were going on too.

The only little mystery left is what the exact killer event was and how long it lasted.
