Virginia extends further west than West Virginia.

If you go south from Detroit, you’ll end up in Canada.
Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia are almost the world’s only example of an international “four corners”. Almost. Namibia and Zimbabwe are only separated by about 150 meters, so it’s not quite a “four corners” situation.
Canada may or may not have a “four corners”. This situation formed when Nunavut separated from the Northwest Territories. Although Canada is believed to have a four corners, the border between Nunavut and the NWT is currently being surveyed to see if it really exists. If not, the border will be off by about 400 meters, and Nunavut and Saskatchewan will technically not border each other.
Maine is the only state to border only one other state (New Hampshire).
Germany, Switzerland, and Austria meet in the middle of a lake. It is not clear where the international borders are in the lake, or even if there are any.
China and Russia border the most other countries (14 each).
Norway and North Korea are only separated by one country (Russia).
Ellis Island is split between New York and New Jersey. The part that existed before the island’s expansion belongs to New York, and the rest is New Jersey. The state line even irregularly divides roads and buildings on the island.
Just after the War of 1812, Fort Montgomery was built in northeastern New York. It is actually the second of two forts. While the first one was being built, it was discovered that they were building it about a kilometer too far north - in Canada. This one is occasionally called “Fort Blunder”. The US and Britain (who owned Canada at the time) agreed to slightly alter the border so that the second one indisputably fell within US territory.
The US-Canada border is the longest international border in the world.
