# All System you need to know (Numbers)

I read many topics that how to memorize numbers.
And I found many different types of techniques to memorize numbers.

I will tell you the basics of the method , how methods works , for full details and list search in art of memory search bar.

I listed below -

Mainly based on 2 digit

It is an ancient indian method of expressing numbers as words in which simple words are used that relate to a certain number.
This method was prevalent in Indian astronomers and mathematicians since ancient times.
Here bhoot means - any root or concious of the universe , constant or variable substance or creature.

Example - Eyes = 2 (because most of the creatures has 2 eyes including human)
Sky = 0
Planet = 9
Moon = 1
And so on.

2. Shaper system (Erol) - As I know , This method was started by erol in which you have to choose such a object or person that shapes looks like the number.

Example- 0 -egg (because egg looks like 0)
1 - lighter , pencil
2 - duck
3 - moustache , lip , trident and so on.

3. Pronunciation system (Raja) - This method was created by me .
In this method you have to pronounce the number and find a word that has similar pronunciation.
It is different than rhyme method.

In rhyme method one is bun , but if you want to use pronunciation than one is wanted , wonder woman and so on.

Example - 1 - ek - (activa)
2 - do - ( doremon)
40 - chalis - (Charlie Chaplin)

4. Wang feng system (Wang feng) - It is similar like above method but little different.
As I know , It is mostly used by Chinese and Japanese people not by English speaking users.

Example - 23 - two three (and find word that has similar sound)
56 - five six

5. Consonant-Vowel system (Josh) -
First assigned letters for numbers 0 to 9 and then choose vowels for numbers 0 to 9.

Then make a words with letter + vowels .

Like - 0 - o , 1 - i , 2 - u (vowels)
0 - s , 1 - t , 2 - n (consonant)

22 - su - sumo
21 - si - sim
11 - ti - tin

6. Kana System (bjoern) - I don’t know how this method works.

Based on 2 digit , 3 digit - Bigger System

The letter assignment was made by ancient people.

Now you have all letters for numbers , make words and memorize them.

8. Major System (Ancient) -
It is based on phonetic sounds not letters and here is list of letters that represents numbers.
Make words with this letters and make a list for numbers 00 to 99 in the beginning.

When you understand this system more ,you can make your first 000 to 999 images.
And it will takes time to make your first 3 digit system.
Almost 3 months to make 3 digit system and managing speed memorizing.

9. Ben system (Ben) -

ben pridmore used major system in different manor.
He uses first number as major system letter and second number as vowels that he made.
And last Number again major system letter.

Basically it is consonant - vowel - consonant system.

Example - 949 - bob
943 - bom - bomb
951 - but - button and so on.

10. PAO System (Dominic O’Brien) - In this method ,
Our first step is to assigned person for numbers 00 to 99 .
Second step is to give them action and last add a object.

Example - 15 is Albert Einstein writing with a chalk
Person - Albert Einstein
Action - Writing
Object - Chalk

52 - bear Grylls eating snake.

And if you have to memorize this number
155215

Albert Einstein eating chalk.

So it is better to seach in search bar.

12. Category system -

First approach -

In this method you have to choose categories for Numbers 0 to 9.

Example - 9 is Animals category.
So make a list of 100 animals.

You can further devided animal category in sub 10 category like mammals, insects , amphibian , birds and so on.

Example - 945 - fish
912 - bear.

Second approach - choose 100 categories for Numbers 00 to 99 and then make 10 list of words in every category.

13. आर्यभट्ट की संख्या पद्धति - This is ancient Indian method to represent numbers.
It is made by Aryabhatta that discovered 0.

The main feature of this method is that by using it , the numbers coming from mathematics and astronomy could also be used easily in the verses.
This method can even be used to represents fractions and mixed fractions.

0 category has sounds that comes from internally without stopping.

2 , 4 , 6 , 8 has hard produced hard sounds and 1 , 3 , 5 , 7 , 9 slow sound.

Yes, @Rajadodve786, thanks so much for showing me your past topic. I try to find as many related topics as I can but I missed yours. It has many systems that I will add to my list of systems. If I have any questions, I might want to check with you about it. My Hindi isn’t very good.

Russian Alfanumeric code

Each digit has 2 consonants words are composed of letters, images.

for example:
760 - СЛоН (elephant ), 101 - ГоНГ (gong), if one word cannot be composed, 2 or more can be, for example: 628 - Ледяной ДВорец (ice palace), 712 - Зеленая ГиТара (green guitar),444 - Черная Черепаха в Чепчике (black turtle in a cap).
If you can’t compose a word somewhere using an alphanumeric code, you can just come up with something of your own, given the number of images.

@Rajadodve786 thanks for the Russian version of a sound encoding system. Do you know where it came from? I wondered why one wouldn’t just use the Major system in a Russian context. Only one (#8) really matches with the Major system. Do you know any Russian? And do you know if any of the other languages that you know are using a modified Major system?

If I remember right, the Indian number system is mentioned in the book “Alex’s adventures in Numberland”

That looks like 6 and 7 have been switched but almost a perfect match for the Major system. (I never got a chance to use my Russian I learned in high school and college.) Do you have any modern people writing on memory like a Harry Ukrayne?

@Rajadodve786, could you comment on the similarities between the Katapyadi system and the Major system? I’m currently reading Excavating the Memory Palace by Seth Long where he says

… a French mathematician and astronomer named Pierre Hérigone developed the technique in his Cursus mathematicus in the 1630s. (However, it must be noted the Hérigone’s system is nearly identical to the Hindi Katapayadi system, which dates to the seventh-century India and was utilized by South Asian astronomers and mathematicians.)

His citation for this is an Indian academic journal article on the system by Sreeramula Rajeswara Sarma in 1999. Long also notes that the system was named the Major system after a popularizer in the 1800s, Major Beniowski, who was a printer and amateur memory athlete.

Actually, I sent this words to alexander panfilov too , to ask is this words matches with your system but he said he uses a different system (russian alphanumeric code - in which all no. have 2 letters)

Well, I don’t know which system came first, but I know indian katapyadi system is so ancient. (683 CE the oldest evidence of katapyadi I guess)

Similarities -

Major system - maybe many years ago someone see the katapyadi system and picked up his letter from this system in a horizontal way. (According to sounds like ka , kh, ga, gha - all becomes 1 digit)

1. First column - ka, kh, g, gh - 7
Ch, chh, j, jh - 6
2. Second column - Ta, Tha, Da, Dha - 1 then Na (2)
ta, tha, da, dha - 1
then n (2)
3. Third column - m, r, l
And so on, you can notice that too.
Even if you look at indian alphabets.
