The IAM Canadian Open will be held April 7th at Westlock Elementary School in Westlock, Alberta, about an hour north of Edmonton. This will be a 10 events, national format competition. The organizer is an elementary school teacher named Darren Michalczuk who has done some fantastic work showing memory techniques to his students. He’s also the author of the book “Brain Magic: the Memory Code”. Confirmed presence so far includes many of Darren’s young students, Afghanistan’s champion Mir Ahmad Mahmoodi, Selim Aydin from Turkey, two-times Canadian memory champion Francis Blondin (WoHo! That’s me), likely next Canadian champion Braden Adams, future one of the best in the world Ezequiel Valenzuela and rubik’s cube maniac Theodore Chow. Oh there’s also a guy named Ben Pridmore coming over from England, you may have heard of him ( : Contact Darren Michalczuk on Facebook and follow the “2018 IAM Canadian Open Memory Championship” page if you’re interested.
