1000 Obj MS Cont'd

Here is the continuation of my previous blog post, 1000 Object Major System.

That one got too spacious for my liking; it took too long to scroll through it. You can look at it for the complete 1000 object list, a 120 number PAO list(00-99, 0-9, 0.0-0.9), the card system explained, and other stuff.

As with the preceding post, this will be a place for me to post updates about my way to a 3 decimal digit, 2 card block, 9 binary digit system.

Right now, I am doing pretty much exactly what I said I would right here. I’m going through my whole list, checking off which items I can visualize right away, and which ones I will look up images for online. Then I will divide all my objects into categories, eliminating ones that are too similar, and also enabling easier recall by grouping, ie: If I know something was a sharp object, I only have to go through maybe 50 images instead of all 1000.

I will also link all the objects to my previous PAO list, my person for 60(Gus) will hold all the objects 600 through 609. They will be linked together in a loop. I can thus review all my objects any time I choose to.

Finally, I will be making the last 352 images to complete the card system. Check out Lance’s original post, and my “summary”(1/8th shorter than the original) if you want to know more about the 2 card block system.

Feel free to ask any questions you have about my journey, or this system, or anything remotely relating to this. Please read the first blog post though to avoid any questions already answered.

I may or may not be posting each category separately, but regardless, this is an example of what I will be doing. I wrote down whatever things I need images for, and divided everything into categories. I will probably divide “other objects+ misc” into more categories. Something like weapons(except sharp), tools/instruments, long and thin things, and other.

Keep in mind, some of these categories(ie: flowers or other plants) have very few objects in them. This is because I know there are many flowers in the whole list; It is not represented fairly in just the first 100. Plus, I do not know many flowers, so I will have to learn how to distinguish between them very well.

Here is my 000-099 list as of today, followed by an example categorization. Notice that my 5’s and 7’s are inverted, so 5 is C/K/Q, and 7 is L.

A tip, something LociInTheSky told me a while ago; If you are thinking of creating your own 1000 object list, and you already have 100 from pao, use those by adding an 8 to the end of all of them. It’ll make creating the big list a lot easier. For example, if 22 is neon, make neon 228. I probably should have done that, but I like having everything be perfectly fitted into a system.

I’ve been categorizing all the objects, and also linking them to my old pao list (I link 0-4 to the person and 5-9 to the object. For example, 000-004 is linked to Sylvester Stallone, and 005-009 is linked to Zeus(statue)). This is turning out to be pretty easy, objects are so much better than people for me. Only problem is, this is a BIG list… With all the time it took me to create it, I’ve sort of forgotten that part. It really is a lot of objects. I don’t envy those with 2704 image systems…

I’ll update whenever I first memorize 100 numbers with it, 5 min, and 15 minute numbers as well…

Hi. Having just completed the 1st pass of reviewing my 1000 images, I have to sympathize with your efforts. It’s a monolithic chore, but definitely fun at times. Good luck!

If you’re trying to do this as well,(not you octaveslur), don’t make these mistakes that I made:

  1. Too many plants.(Unless you are a gardener/botanist)
  2. Too many fish(Other animals are usually a lot more distinct)]
  3. Too many types of drinks.(Look too similar, other than color/texture)
  4. Too many images that you have to look up using Google. (They should ALL, or at least 95% come from your imagination)

Bateman

PS Right after making the complete list, before memorizing it, you want to categorize everything, as above. Then, look for things that are too similar. Replace them.
